I think both sites have their charm.  We've always been to the Old Fisherman's Wharf, so thought if we went to the Coast Guard pier it would be a different view/area.  I didn't mean to walk between the two -- so didn't mean .7 miles was a short walk but rather a short distance between the two.

Update.....our tenders went to Fisherman's wharf as usual.  On the plus side.....we did walk out to the Coast Guard pier and found a wonderful little food place that had scotch eggs on the menu......we turned our friends on to them.....they were great there and we also got them in Victoria at the Irish Times pub/restaurant......we get one whenever we see on a menu.....yummy.
