Yes, you need to make reservations, can't do it before boarding.  We were not able to do it until after muster drill.  The times are set to match the dining times.  Five minutes before show time they will let anyone else in.  You can make the res. on the app or on the many interactive screens around the ship.  They will scan your card when you enter to make sure you have a res.  EM

We were able to book the shows as soon as we got on board through the screens and my sister and her husband were able to do the same and this was before muster drill.  As soon as you are near the ship you can connect to the ships wifi and book it through the MSC App 

 

This was in June
