I have the NCL credit card and will be cashing in points for on board credit for April sailing ---but i am getting mixed answers from card company and NCL--

Has anyone had success/trouble with on board credit from credit card going towards daily service charges?

I have never gotten OBC with our points, but opted instead to use points as a statement credit on the card.

If you have 25,000 (or more) you you can get $250 (or more) back to your card as a statement credit.

Have done this a few times, quickly and easily!

Had no issues with the redemption of " worldpoints " to OBC, have done it numerous times. This OBC is non refundable which can't be used to pay the DSC.

Why do people have this credit card? It's literally one of the WORST credit cards to have. The value of the points you earn is chump change compared to what you would earn with many other reward credit cards.

most of the GOOD excellent travel rewards that offer great benefits do have an annual fee that you need to pay for. atleast this card has no annual fee

Same experience.....

But I've done this 1) go to casino 2) zero out your OBC balance by downloading it to a slot machine 3) immediately cash out 4) go to Guest Services and apply the cash to your account which can be applied towards DSC.

Just remember you will be charged 3% on your stateroom account so if you have $500 OBC then download $485 so that you've left $15 to cover the 3%.

It's a little work but at 11pm when Guest Services is slow its a piece of cake.

That is true, but you have to figure out if the extra benefits from that card have a value superior to the annual fee.

The NCL credit card basically gets you 1% back to spend on NCL, and 2% if the charge is an NCL charge. That is pathetic. Get a hotel or airline credit card and use that to pay for all the other expenses that come with a cruise. You’ll be much better off that way.

Your opinion is valued but doesn't answer the OP's question....... it only belittled them for choosing the NCL card.

Its not an opinion. Value vs cost is a factual thing based on basic math. I also didn’t belittle the OP, I expressed that it’s a horrible credit card and was hoping for someone to give me some info about any perks I may be missing.

for people with bad/little credit, it can be considering a good card for them. Not everyone has a wonderful credit score/report that makes them get instant approval  for wonderful amazing credit cards

I get what you’re saying, but you still need good credit even for the NCL credit card.

I use my points on my NCL  credit card to get $100 in ship board credit. Every day my DSC was deducted from my account off my ship board credit.  If you get a OBC from NCL this can not be used for DSC that's the confusion that causes the problem.

How long ago was this that you were able to do this?

Thank you all for the information- I only got the card because of the $100 promo so once i have all my OBC and have cruised I will be cancelling card.

Agree now!  However, we weren’t CC savvy before and actually hated using CC’s!  However, things have changed in the travel program offerings for CC’s and now trying to compare the CSR to the AmEx Platinum. Ready to switch!
