container Posted September 24, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2019 Good morning, Can anyone help please? I'm looking for travel directions to Yokohama Daikoku Pier from Shinjuku, we are sailing on Celebrity Millennium on 2nd October. I believe that Taxis to the port from Shinjuku are very expensive? We will have to take a taxi for the final part of the journey to the check in unless we can find a shuttle. Many thanks Margaret

omeinv Posted September 24, 2019 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2019 Take the JR Orange line from Shinjuku to Tokyo Station. Then either the bullet train to Shin Yokohama, then the Yokohama line to Sakuragichō Station, which is the closest to the port. Doing this will require a change of trains at Higashi-Kanagawa. Easier than the above is to take the Orange line to Tokyo Station, then take the outbound Narita Express from Tokyo to Yokohama (Note that Shin Yokohama and Yokohama are two completely different stations). Once you're at Yokohama station, you could either take the train one station to Sakuragichō, but it would be about the same to just take a cab from Yokohama station to the port. Rare Miaminice Posted September 24, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2019 There are direkt trains from Shinjuku Station to Yokohama. No need to go to Tokyo Station first.
sanger727 Posted September 24, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 24, 2019 you may want to download the app "hyperdia". It has all the train routes, times, and prices. Riding the subway and train in Japan is an interesting experience. Outside of the bullet trains, you simply have to know the price and the train line you are taking. IE JR vs Metro. Then you just load the correct amount of money onto a card for the correct train line. Scan it when you get into the station and then again when you get out. If you didn't load enough you have an opportunity at the end to load more.
