Best excursions in Nassau after 3 pm?

Hey guys.

I will be cruising into Nassau on March 10th 2020, but the problem is our ship doesn't dock until 2 p.m. and doesn't leave until midnight.

I have never been in Nassau this late... So i was wondering if anyone knew of some great excursions or activities we can do this late in the day?  I would prefer snorkeling, catamaran trip, or something on a beach or the water.

Since we don't dock until 2 pm, I imagine we can't get off the ship till around 3 PM.

Are we screwed?  Any helpful ideas would be awesome.

Ugh, those are terrible hours!  Since you're getting in so late, it would probably be better to stick with one of the free beaches like Junkanoo.  It's a short walk from port.  It's going to get dark fairly early in March though.  Maybe a sunset cruise?  You could also head over to Atlantis and check out their casino or get a pass to the aquarium, maybe have dinner at Margaritaville.

We’ve got the same port hours in June 2020.  I am finding planning for Nassau to be a challenge.  It seems like most daytime excursion options end at 5 pm or 6 pm, and evening options begin at 6 pm or 8 pm.  I prefer eating dinner on the ship, since it’s already paid for, but I also don’t really want to go back & forth from somewhere in Nassau to Majesty of the Seas.

I wish RCCL had better port times for us.

Is there a daytime option to Ardastra Gardens and Zoo?  We enjoyed that and it only took about 2 hours.

The zoo is open till 5 (last entrance at 4) according to their website.  You don't need a cruise excursion - just go on your own.

A walking map of Nassau would be good.  The free beach, the British Colonial Hilton for tea or drinks, the pink

buildings of Nassau, many points of interest, and the Graycliff Hotel are all on it.  The Graycliff makes chocolates

and cigars!  Water activities are limited by time.

We would go on a ship's excursion in the evening and not walk

around Nassau after dark on our own.

So far, RCCL is only listing Nassau excursions to Atlantis.  I was really hoping RCCL would give us more choices for this 2 p.m. to midnight port stop.

What excursion? Pools, waterpark and beach close at 5, you can get into the aquarium for free after a certain time, the casino is free to get into.

I think I’d rather take a $4 pp taxi and wander for free.

We are in the same predicament as OP. Boat doesn’t dock until late in afternoon and we are at a loss as to what to do. We have young kids too. Would you suggest just forgoing the excursion and taking the taxi to Atlantis?

I would, you can buy a pass for the aquarium, but I’d go to the public beach at cabbage beach first (Free), and then walk over to see the aquarium (security leaves at some point  maybe 5?).

I'm in the same situation for our trip next month. I was really wanting to go check out the Fish Fry area, but I saw a travel advisory about that area at night. It's going to be me, my husband, his parents and our 13 year-old son. Would a group of 5 be relatively safe in that part of Nassau?

What did you wind up doing?  We are wanting to something late as well but have two 15/16 year olds and would prefer to do something rather than just stay on the boat since we have a day at sea the next day.  Thanks!

We are heading to Nassau next week and we are doing a 4 hour private charter with Bahama Boat Tours. They take you on a tour, fishing, snorkeling, private island. They get great reviews! I emailed them the date and ship we are on and they emailed me the time they had available. They may be able to accommodate your late arrival. Hope you find something!

Thanks!  I will email them today.  That might be a better option if they have later times in the day.

We just went last week. It was a fantastic way to spend  the day, highly recommend. We went on a tour of Nassau Harbor. Snorkeling at a small reef with tons of fish, snorkeling at another spot with sea turtles and then fishing. So much fun!

Hi, what company or boat did you go snorkeling with?   Thanks much!  Lynne
