Tipping when ordering Breakfast in your Cabin

Hi all

 Can you add the tip to your statement bill???

   and how much do you tip....

You can add it to the bill, but I usually bring some dollar bills with me for that purpose.  

 

Tip amount is really up to you.  I usually figure at least a dollar per person, or a little more if you are requesting a lot of items.

I always tip in cash.  Usually around 3 dollars depending how much I order.   I do not ever remember getting a statement bill.

Normal breakfast for 2 I tip 4 or 5 dollars.  Just the same as on a shorside Dennys.

I believe there’s a place on the back of the order ticket that you sign where you can add a tip. We usually have dollar bills for tips. When we run out, we go to guest services to change a $20 for more $1’s

We always tip $2.00 if it's just coffee.  If we add some pastries and juice, then usually $4.00.  If it's a full meal with a beverage, then $5.00+.  All amounts are for two people.

When we travel we observe the tipping customs of the country we're in at the time.  Princess is owned by an American company, the US dollar is the currency of the realm, we tip according to USA customs.

Not really. Food is no charge, so no bill for the delivery. If you order something with a charge, for example bottle of scotch, then that is automatically added to your on board account. No paper invoice to sign and add additional gratuity. If you go to passenger services to add some additional $$ to the gratuity it will be added to the daily hotel charge which is shared with many of the service staff you encounter on the ship. It will not go directly to the delivery person as you would want. Cash is the way to go.

it may have been awhile back ... but it seems like we used to sign "something" when room service was delivered ...

 

maybe just acknowledging that "it" had been delivered ... dunno

 

all tips ... all cash ... all the time ... everywhere as much as possible ...

On the CB in June roomservice came with a itemized receipt listing each item. There was no charge but there was a line to add on a tip. You had to sign to acknowledge you received your delivery. We always tipped the person 2-5 dollars in cash depending on how much we had ordered.

So True, cash is the way to go.

If you add it to the bill, it is split up so many ways, that the person you are specifically trying to tip will never see it.

There's no charge, but there's usually a ticket to sign to document that the delivery was made. Signature and time.

Yes we have always signed for items with charges. There is a space to ad a grat.

Sometimes sign sometimes not. $2 for a delivery is usually adequate. If we are doing elite afternoon tea we do 5. No tip is required as it’s included in auto grats. It’s a personal choice, and once again has nothing to do with anyone else.

This is also true in the Speciality restaurants.  Again, a gratuity is added automatically, but if you would like to "bump" it a bit, Cash is King.

The delivery staff for room service as well as the waitstaff in the specialty restaurants are included in the tipping pool that the daily auto-gratuity goes to.

 

So while extra tips to those people are always welcome, you have already tipped them'

Many people either don't know that or just don't care. 

They're so use to tipping they automatically include an extra tip for everything.

I can't count the number of times you or I have mentioned this in the myriad of tip related threads.  However, one point not yet mentioned is that tips added to your onboard account are divided among all those participating in the auto tip scheme...while cash tips go directly to your server.
