Well, you have to think outside the box - in this case think outside the ship I guess. Those balloons end up somewhere once they've been gathered up on the ship.

A landfill somewhere where they'll never decompose or maybe they'll incinerate them on the ship thus polluting the air and generating more green house gasses. Either way, not partaking in the balloon drop is probably a good idea.

So you think a ship holds all their trash so it can be sent to a landfill?  Wonder where they hold all of it at?
