Taxis in Bali

On a land trip last year, we found taking taxis to be a bit of an adventure in Bali:  fast meters, not wanting to use a meter, etc.  Bluebird is the most reputable company but you also have to be on the lookout for impostors with cars that look very similar to Bluebird cars.

We are using a driver to take us from the airport to Sanur, which is maybe an hour away from the airport.  That's a little different from just hiring someone to take you from the port to your hotel.  However, I mention it in case you want to hire a driver to take you around the island, near or far, on the next day.  If so, you could have the driver get you to your hotel. take you touring, and then get you to the airport at the end of your stay.

If you are staying for some days in Bali and do plans some tours a driver would be the obvious choice - we did  make an arrangement with a driver for the transfers as well as some day tours - very convenient and less stressful.
