What Do You Do For Sail Away BESIDES The Main Party

So what does everyone like to do for sail away besides the main party on the pool deck?  We were on Symphony last January on honestly the "party" they had was just one speaker in one corner of deck 16.  It was pretty underwhelming, and I can only take so much Cupid Shuffle anyway.  We'll be on Harmony this coming January and I'm pretty sure we'll want to do something else.  So what other things do people like to do?  Thanks in advance for all your suggestions.  Cha cha now y'all!

Most cruises that I've been on have had disappointing sail aways. I'm interested in hearing the responses to this question.

On RCCL ships I love to head to the helipad at the front for sail away... it's quiet and the view is amazing (I've seen dolphins swim along the the bow wave a few times out of Port Canaveral and port Everglades).

We are the enjoying a beverage on the balcony people but chatting with a bartender with a view of the water is a nice alternative.

Poster is on Harmony so therefore you cant sailaway from the helipad.  But we do Love to sailaway on the others that offer it from there. 🙂

We either sit on our balcony or we stand at the pool deck, sometimes in VCL if not an Oasis Class ship

We are sailing with other family members so we are planning on all meeting in my daughter's suite, popping a bottle of champagne, and hanging out on their balcony with the grandchildren.

40+ cruises; have never gone to the Sailaway Party.

If sailing from Fort Lauderdale, we position ourselves on the port side, upper deck, to wave to the people on the condos facing the channel, and listen for the ship's horn.

If Baltimore, we stand on an upper deck, midships, to watch the ship go under the bridges.  So cool!

I'm not remotely "anti-social" but hanging out with 1200 of my closest friends isn't my idea of a good time.

The sail-away party would be my last choice.    Where we go depends on the port.   If it's a spectacular port for sail-away, like Vancouver, Sydney, San Francisco, or New York, then we'll either find a relatively quiet bar with great views, go to a top deck for sailing under classic bridges, or open a bottle of wine and enjoy it from our own balcony.   Sometimes sail-aways are delayed for various reasons; if that happens, we may already be involved with dinner before sail-away.   Best plan:   No plan - you're on vacation and do whatever feels right at the moment.

I usually take a nap. Very often it's a hectic morning and I appreciate the opportunity to relax so that I am more able to enjoy the evening. That's what happens when you get old. 😃

If your lucky enough to be in a suite , suite lounge normally has a great view. But definitely someplace that serves drinks.

That is our plan each time as well!  Great views and we also have the dolphins escorting the ship out in Galveston.

Nice plan, which we have enjoyed as well on certain RCI ships.  But you cannot do that on Vision (as they don't have one), Oasis (other than by invitation), or Quantum class ships as they are not accessible to the passengers.

 

Typically we watch sailaway from our balcony or another quiet location on the ship - usually with a beverage of choice in hand -  but never the main pool (other than with our first couple of cruises) as we have no interest in that activity.

I did my first sail away on the main deck and it was just way too busy. Now we just have a drink on our balcony and avoid the crowds. It would take something really special to get me back up on the main deck for a sail away.

I have to socialize every day at work, I don't need to do it on vacation so I'm with you here 🙂

As I have stated numerous times on a number of threads I despise forced fun.

 

So any sail away party will be avoided like its a zombie plague.

 

I will go to a bar with an outside seating area, and drink and enjoy the sea whilst relaxing.

 

Sail away party is my sort of hell

Someone mentioned this recently and it reminded me that I'd asked this some time ago.  I thought you had said you've only been on one cruise.  I'm sincerely curious if that's true and also sincerely curious that, if true, how can you post so much?
