lcookie Posted October 28, 2019 Author #101 Share Posted October 28, 2019 We Finally Made It This is our third time docking in Key West and each time we have been at the Navy Pier. One of these days I will make it to the big leagues and get to dock right on the Square! The Navy pier is okay. I just don't like having to hop a ride to and from the boat. That really eats into your time on the island. If we ported for like 12 hours it would not be as much of a big deal to me.

lcookie Posted October 28, 2019 Author #103 Share Posted October 28, 2019 This trip I had plans to go parasailing in the bay then get some local cuisine. Well, Mama stomped all over that idea. She did however agree to the second half of the plans. It's kinda my fault. See, early on I told her this was going to be our decompression vacation. No plans, no activities, just relaxation. Next time I will keep my thoughts to myself!
lcookie Posted October 28, 2019 Author #104 Share Posted October 28, 2019 Welcome to our first stop. You can see who was driving the ship at this point. Lots of choices but we settled on cookies the size of our heads!

lcookie Posted October 28, 2019 Author #107 Share Posted October 28, 2019 Now we get to the part of the day I was looking forward to the most. FOOD!!!!!!! For the last two weeks all I had been dreaming of is eating a Key West Lobster Roll from DJ's. The anticipation was killing me and my mouth was watering something awful! As we are getting off the trolley I ask the driver how long the walk is to DJ's and he ever so eloquently states " Sorry Bud - They Are Closed For Renovations". The nerve! Didn't they get the memo that I was headed down??? So I jump on Mr. Google and fine the Conch Shack just one block away. They have LOBSTER ROLLS and CONCH. That's a win-win in my book! We mosey down the block and take up residence for the next hour. The staff was a hoot-n-a-half and the food was good too. Fine Street Food Dining. It doesn't get any better than that. Never had DJ's but this place hit the spot and I recommend it if you are in the area and want an quick bite.
lcookie Posted October 28, 2019 Author #108 Share Posted October 28, 2019 Afterwards we were going to head to the boat but the workers told us there was a sunset festival going on at the Square so we headed that way to check out the digs. When we got there it was a ghost town, but the party was going strong by the time we left. There were several street performers vying for everyone's attention. One area they could improve on is working together to sync their schedules so that they were not competing for attention. We watched a couple of the performers, did a little shopping and headed back to the boat. Here again, if we were at the square we could have had another hour to hang out down there. lcookie Posted October 28, 2019 Author #111 Share Posted October 28, 2019 All in all it was a good day in Key West. I am Lo-Key glad Mama pushed the pause button on parasailing. That would have been epic, but this gave us the entire evening to leisurely prance around exploring the down town area.

lcookie Posted October 28, 2019 Author #114 Share Posted October 28, 2019 At this point I am noticing a theme. We are not doing much in the evenings around the boat. We typically catch the shows and party hop a little. Not so much this trip. We were actually enjoying doing nothing. Guess we have officially made it to professional cruise level. No need to go overboard with activities. Do what you want when you want and nothing more. This sums up Key West. The next installment will be from the "Florida Straight" - See Ya There.

lcookie Posted November 4, 2019 Author #117 Share Posted November 4, 2019 Hello from the middle of nowhere! As you can see from the clock we have been sailing for almost a half of day and really haven't made any headway. These short circuit Bahama cruises are very slow going.
lcookie Posted November 4, 2019 Author #118 Share Posted November 4, 2019 I start my day same as the rest. Up early headed to the open decks waiting to catch that once in a lifetime sunrise. I may look it but I am not tired lol!
lcookie Posted November 4, 2019 Author #119 Share Posted November 4, 2019 (edited) Today the girls wanted to eat in the MDR so I went back to the room and got them up. To my surprise I did not get tooooooo much kick back for waking them up so early. Guess they did not want to miss out like yesterday. Loving this dress code thing. This should spread to other lines. A meal for the princess - She has a very mature palette! My repeat from yesterday. The fruit was the same again. lcookie Posted November 4, 2019 Author #120 Share Posted November 4, 2019 After breakfast, mama wanted to take a scroll around the ship to burn off some calories. We took a vote to overturn her decision; however, she invoked executive powers and made us walk with her. This is us thinking if we play around long enough she would just leave us be That plan did not work! So we walked around the deck 3.5 times to make it a full mile. The water was nice and blue with a mild chop.

lcookie Posted November 4, 2019 Author #122 Share Posted November 4, 2019 They even have a clock on the deck for you to time your walk These guys were having more fun that me :-). But seriously the walk was nice. We stay pretty active on the ships so walking around is no big deal. I am always surprised by the number of steps we take in a day not even thinking about it. Ever wondered how many people can fit on a life boat? This little boat has some zip!
lcookie Posted November 4, 2019 Author #123 Share Posted November 4, 2019 After the walk Mama went to her usual hang out while the little one and I got into some of the ship activities.
lcookie Posted November 4, 2019 Author #124 Share Posted November 4, 2019 After reviewing the activities we settled in on WII Open Play In all practical terms this could have been a "Hot-Mess". The activity was unsupervised and they only had 1 console/2 controllers. Fortunately, everyone there had good common sense and knew how to share/rotate play. She won her tennis match and we loss bowling by 1 point. It was more fun than I thought it would be. Afterwards we rounded up Mama and headed to the MDR for lunch.
lcookie Posted November 4, 2019 Author #125 Share Posted November 4, 2019 As I mentioned we went back to Seven Seas for lunch. At this point in our cruising careers we prefer table service over buffets. Menus Meal
