5 for 4 Budweiser pre order

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of getting the 5 for 4 Bud deal before boarding.    As I understand it, the 16 oz (473ML) cans will be delivered to our stateroom. It is larger than our 355 ml cans in Canada.   It may or not be cold, so can we request, while on board, to have a bucket filled with ice to keep the beer cold and then keep asking for ice, probably from the bar, whenever the ice melts.    From our experience the fridge keeps things cool but not cold....gotta have cold beer.   The 5 for 4 would cost us $35.28 Canadian or $7.05 per can.  I think this is a good deal.  Comments, please...Thx

You can also just walk up to any bar and order the 5 for 4 deal. They will give it to you pre-chilled, in a bucket with ice.

if I don't get the PBP ( rare ) we take along a collapsible (folds flat) insulated cooler that will hold six of the tall aluminum 'bottles' of Bud ... I would just take it to a bar, and they would put the ( 5 ) beers in there ,then fill with ice ... kept colder way longer than a 'bucket' or fridge

this was in the Caribbean where we can drive to the ports, so luggage is basically not a problem ...

Thx 4 the reply...We are on the Coral....is the 5 for 4 deal available at the bars on all Princess ships?   Sounds better than prepaying.

Yes, and you don't have to order BUD.  There are other choices.

Incidentally, what you reported seems odd, but perhaps BC is that way.  Here in ON, virtually all cans are about 500ml, or the 473 (16 oz).

I suppose there might still be 12oz (355) cans, but they are not featured on shelves.

Sorry, I was interrupted earlier or I would have finished this.  The Personalizer price and the price on board are the same, with an exception in your case.

Based on the numbers you quoted originally, your booking is in CAD and you must have booked a LONG time ago as I am getting an exchange rate of 1.20.  It would appear things are still working as they used to - by that I mean if you booked your cruise at a specific exchange rate, then that rate applies for items ordered in the Personalizer.  Princess' current rate is 1.30 and the CAD is around 1.33 (or more depending on your credit card).  It is clear that you will save money by purchasing in advance.

I book in USD with a discount TA In the USA and don't worry about currency.  It can go the other way, but you have a great situation.  One way to confirm this is to check your Personalizer and see if purchasing $100 OBC is costing you $120 CAD or $130 CAD.  If the former, I would figure out how much you might spend on wine, drinks, Crown Grill, etc, and pre-purchase OBC to cover it with a great exchange rate.

ETA - Those 5 Bud's you mentioned are $25 + 18% = $29.50 USD.  At 1.20, that is $35.40 CAD.  I ignored pennies.

Thx for the reply...I booked ages ago, so am at the 1.30 exchange rate...The cost for my 5 bud, pre cruise will be $35,28 CDN $ which works out to $7.05 Cdn per can with no additional 18% gratuity.  Buying onboard, from the last quoted beer prices, the Bud will be $6.25 US$  each x 4 cans (buy 4 get 5) = $25. + 18% gratuity = $29.50 x 1.30 exchange rate = $38.35 Cdn.  I would save $3. by buying ahead of the cruise, about 10% .....Right?.  Everytime I go to my Personalizer it is quoted in Cdn funds.

You must have booked at 1.20 (1.30 has been in effect for a long time now).  As I mentioned, pretend you want to buy some OBC for $100 or Casino credit OBC.  You get it in USD as that is on-board currency, but your Cruise Personalizer will look to charge you in CAD.  Your beer price reflects 1.20 rate - not 1.30.

I don't think your question about the beer being cold was answered, sorry if I missed it. You will have a card in your room if you pre-order and you just ring Room Service to have your beers delivered. They are delivered cold in a bucket with ice. The stateroom steward will always fill an ice bucket with ice for you if requested. Drink 'em before the ice melts is my attitude.

Important note here: Room service is super busy the day you board. You might wind up on hold for a half hour trying to redeem your voucher.

If you want cold beer when you board, go to a bar and get it. The only drawback to this is that you'll likely be charged a tax for whatever port you embark in.

I was going to say "Don't see why not" to Post #10.  I guess it's covered.

Have been told no in the past.

Seeing if any recent cruisers had a different outcome.

I was going to do the same thing, but after checking with Princess on the chatline it is cheaper to buy it onboard in USD than CAD. offered to me online.

All pre-orders are delivered by room service.  For alcohol there will be a voucher in your cabin and you will have to call room service to schedule a delivery and an adult 21+ must be in the cabin to receive the alcohol.  The day of embarkation is very busy for room service and depending when you call (and get through!) may have your request delivered later that night or the next day.   It is easier to just go to a bar and buy it.
