Sooner-Cruisers Posted October 24, 2019 #2 Share Posted October 24, 2019 We were in Freeport last week. We took a taxi ($5 pp) to the Grand Lucayan resort. Day passes are $20 pp, $10 for kids. The taxi was $6 pp back to the ship. The resort was in good shape, some shingles were missing from some of the roofs. There wasn’t very many people, but it was a beautiful day. We enjoyed the beach and pool.

marci4tony Posted October 24, 2019 #5 Share Posted October 24, 2019 There really isnt anywhere in the port vicinity - just take a cab into the shopping area. There used to be lots of open beach area - was very intrigued by the variation of sand between Freeport and Montego Bay Jamaica!

Sooner-Cruisers Posted October 24, 2019 #7 Share Posted October 24, 2019 They had a window just inside the lobby special to purchase day passes. We’ve done this two different times and didn’t have any issues. It’s a large resort, so I don’t think there’s a worry about it being full.

She maybe referring to the Lucayan marketplace (the name may not be correct) but it is a large shopping area near the Grand Lucayan resort. It was not open yet when we were there, but our cab driver said it would be opening later that week. So if there were no delays, it should be open now. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g147420-d149314-Reviews-Port_Lucaya_Marketplace-Freeport_Grand_Bahama_Island_Bahamas.html Edited October 25, 2019 by Sooner-Cruisers Add link

Djptcp Posted November 15, 2019 #14 Share Posted November 15, 2019 We were just in Freeport last week and Senor Frogs and Fat Tuesday restaurants were closed due to severe damage from the last hurricane and there didn't seem to be any work being done. There were lots of little stores open at the pier selling the usual junk. We didn't go any further. Used to go downtown to Lucaya and go to the casino, but didn't go this time.
