How do you deal with sand and shoes at the beach.

Years ago on a South Pacific Cruise at one of the isolated islands where they were tendering, as you got back on board you had the opportunity to walk through a filled child’s wading pool to remove sand from feet and thongs (flip flops for those in US).

i thought it was a great idea but have not seen it used again on recent South Pacific cruises,

I've used similar in places in Mexico.  Not necessarily wading pools but places with running water to wash the sand off before entering a place.

This was actually on the ship after you were scanned in but before your bags were scanned.

Pali Hawaiian sandals. Pack baby powder to remove sand from feet. Works great.
