Drink pkg and specialty dining questions

1. We have the classic beverage pkg. If we want a drink that is more than the $9 allowance, do we pay for the difference or the entire cost of the more expensive drink? What is actual price difference in classic and premium package if we upgrade onboard?

2. We would like to purchase the 8 night specialty dinner package. Has anyone waited to purchase it onboard, and if so, was it more than the $265 price to purchase prior to cruise? My husband has always gone directly to the specialty dining rooms and gotten better prices from the maitre d' than the pre-cruise price but we have never done more than 4 nights.

If you order a drink that is over the $9 limit you pay the difference plus the 20%gratuity on the difference.  The cost to upgrade is $10 pp per day plus +20% gratuity so $12.

Depending upon how far out your cruise is, you should occasionally  receive emails whenever there is a promotion offering  a percentage discount on both upgrading of drink packages as well as the purchasing of specialty venue packages.  There is no rhyme or reason as to if or when the promotional  emails go out.
