DR John Posted February 10, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 10, 2006 Look forward to meeting both of you. As an aside, does anyone have hotel ideas for Barcelona. We are booked at the Arts(Ritz Carlton) but I am willing to listen to alternatives. We will only be there 1 night.
Host Dan Posted February 10, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 10, 2006 Look forward to meeting both of you.As an aside, does anyone have hotel ideas for Barcelona. We are booked at the Arts(Ritz Carlton) but I am willing to listen to alternatives. We will only be there 1 night. The Arts is a gorgeous hotel. We have stayed at Le Meridian on the Rambles. Nice as well, and alot less $$ I believe. We fly in the day of the cruise, so no hotel stay. We are, however, staying 1 night in Nice at the end of the trip. bldsld Posted February 10, 2006 #7 Share Posted February 10, 2006 The Arts is well located, both for sightseeing and for the pier, and a beautiful hotel. For one night, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

DR John Posted February 21, 2006 #10 Share Posted February 21, 2006 Looking forward to meeting all of you. Has anyone heard of issues in Barcelona with regard to pickpocketing/purse snatching? My wife says I worry too much, but that's just me.
Host Dan Posted February 21, 2006 #11 Share Posted February 21, 2006 Looking forward to meeting all of you. Has anyone heard of issues in Barcelona with regard to pickpocketing/purse snatching? My wife says I worry too much, but that's just me. I am so looking forward to the trip! You need to be very careful in Barcelona (and other large cities for that matter) of pickpockets etc. If you use a wallet, keep it in your front pocket. Try to blend in, and not look like a tourist if possible! :D Host dan
lord of the seas Posted February 21, 2006 #12 Share Posted February 21, 2006 DR John, The same rules apply in any city anywhere in the world.I find Barcelona to be a little safer than a lot of cities, but do leave the Mr 'T' jewellery at home. Rare wineasmusic Posted February 22, 2006 #13 Share Posted February 22, 2006 I bought a couple of pick pocket resistant pants from TravelSmith. They have a couple of hidden and zippered pockets that lets you relax a little. They are not pickpocket proof, but since other tourists are easier, I know I'm on the bottom of their list. I've been surprised how much stress they remove, even though I am still careful.
lord of the seas Posted February 22, 2006 #14 Share Posted February 22, 2006 wineasmusic, You say that the pants are "Pick Pocket Resistant" then you say that "they are not Pick Pocket proof" Can you clarify please? Remember, Clothes do not maketh the man
james king Posted February 28, 2006 Author #15 Share Posted February 28, 2006 I presume these pants don't have any pockets.... hence the pickpockets are unable to pick the pockets because the garment doen't have any pockets to pick. :)
