Local "Market" to shop for Bahamas made items. No cost: underwater sculpture park (beyond the primary beach). And, then there are the more private areas that do have costs associated with them and In the water w/fee to rent equipment: Paddleboards, Snorkeling gear (or bring your own = no costs), Kayaks, Wave-runners. 1

Just to relax by the ocean? 6 hours ago, 9tee2Sea said: Being from Los Angeles, I can go the beach anytime I'm guessing the "point" is for the majority who can't go to the beach anytime to be able to easily visit a very nice safe beach while on holiday. We were looking at the available in-villa food/drink, and when we arrived we found 6 16oz cartons of water in the fridge gratis, and a bowl of fruit on the table. There were several large shower towels in the cabinet and four large ship pool towels laid out on the chairs right on the villa porch. Factor those in when deciding how many to lug off the ship. Six chairs down by the beach had our villa number on them, but FYI only one large umbrella. The AC means you can go all day without having to tap out so get there as early as possible!

It made GSC a calm and peaceful experience. The pool was so cold in February so we hope it is warmer now. We will be back there a week from tomorrow with family via the Breakaway if the weather is calm for tendering. Have a wonderful cruise!
Escaping2016 Posted August 29 #233 Share Posted August 29 For those that have rented different level cabana's/villas, were the more expensive ones worth the extra cost. Also, did a provide a good home base for mixed groups (for example some that want to zipline vs some that want to relax etc.

If you have multiple people agreeing to share the expense, then, yes, it can be worth the cost. I would find the 2 bedroom villa perfect for my sons, DILs, and their children (ranging from toddler through teens)!

It’s more secluded plus you’re closer to the new pool. The cabanas with the bedrooms are nice if you have elders or kids that may need a nap or a break from the sun. You’re only there for about 7 hours so do you spent it sleeping? We stayed at cabana with 1 bedroom but we rarely stayed inside. The best benefits of the cabana was the private bathroom, shaded patio, reserved beach seats and outstanding service.

If you’re planning on doing anything outside of Silver Cove, get there early and do it before you head over and it gets crowded on the island. With that said, if you’re paying for Silver Cove you should just go over there as fast as you can and enjoy it. My wife and I took the priority tender, we were the first off and went straight to the check in station. Once you sign in they tell you to wait in the back. That was a mistake. We spent 20 minutes waiting for the escort to check others in and walk us to the shuttle area. We meet a great family while waiting but there is nothing relaxing about waiting. Instead, just walk up past the shopping area and the shuttles will be waiting for you. Also, the staff is great. Let them spend time getting you food and snacks so you can spend your time relaxing or enjoying the activities. But remember to tip them well as many live on the island.
