I would just use your three drink vouchers at any place or restaurant during the happy hour time and not have to visit the DL /CL

We do just that.  We pick a bar, get to know the bartenders, tip graciously, and have our drinks there each night.  I can't eat apps, then head out to dinner, I would be too full to enjoy the meal.  ☺️  We only visit the Diamond lounge for the coffee in the morning.  And we are Diamond, halfway to Diamond+, and will continue this practice unless we are on a cruise where the Diamond Lounge is not a madhouse.  Too many other options for us.

No they did not pay full price. You paid full price for them. If I could get points for all the cabins I have paid for while cruising with our kids I would be on my way to pinnacle.

And how do you feel about spouse's who happen to have one main paycheque.

Does the spouse with no job get any points, having not contributed financially?

Yeah, I realize that. Just me thinking out loud. Wonder if those staying in suites would stop cruising with RC if RC did eliminate the SL? 😏

At the current suite prices, the SL is “included”. Can’t take it away without lowering the price.

Why would the spouse not contribute?

If it's because they are a parent, I am sure they have done more than their fair share for the family 🙄

Exactly my point.

Arbitrarily eliminating any "paid" member of the family from receiving loyalty points, spouse or kids,  is making assumptions about their contributions.

I think they will consider the trend of including "Unlimited" drink packages with the cost of the cruise in more of an all-inclusive fashion.
.  On our last Celebrity cruise a very high percentage of people had a drink package and most of the servers just assumed we did too.  This seems like the wave of the future and it normalizes everyone on the cruise and gets the cruise line more money in the long run since even non-drinkers (or sort of drinkers) will pay the same as others.

NCL does this often, including the unlimited "free" drinks as a perk.  Even though we are platinum plus with them, my helping pay for other's drinks as a nondrinker usually prices us right out of their cruises.  Would hate to see Royal do the same.  Good last minute deals can be had, but we are not in a position to wait that long.

Unlike airlines, points on RC never go away.  So maybe assign level based on points versus other cruisers.  Top 1% Pinnacle, Next 4% D+, Next 10% D and so on.  That way the ranks will only grow as the total C&A grows.   Assuming the number of cabins (more ships) grows at the same rate, should solve the problem.  American Air used to tell Platinum it was top 1%.  Never said what was needed to achieve it.

At least with Celebrity, when you choose the alcohol package as a perk , you do not pay extra for the gratuities  On NCL if you choose the alcohol package  each person automatically gets charged gratuities for the value of the drink package

Dan

True, but every day on NCL is the all you can drink for $20 challenge as a result.  Non drinkers still help pay the difference.

I think celebrity just started charging a daily fee for beverage perk

I can see the backlash to removing D access to DL, to only D+ b/c of the numbers, and just easier for RCCL to make the DL crowded for all of them; accessible during the evening only to early arriving pax, no distinction if D or D+.

Perhaps, something to make D+ feel a little more special (especially those still upset lost CL access) w/o costing RCCL much, would be to give them 4 drinks over a 4 hour period.  D then has something to look forward to by turning D+, another drink and an extra hour to use it.

So..... Based on what you are saying....if a couple are cruising and one person works and the other is say a stay at home parent - should the non working person get points or just the wage earner.  Same thing as kids!

This thread, is just a repeat of a many times a year topic.  RCI is going to destroy the C&A program and you are going to lose X, Y, and Z.

It is started and posted to exactly the same over and over and over...

Simply a waste of time.  Nothing has changed in the past, and while the only constant in life is change.  I expect this year too, to be another year of nothing changing, and people vomiting that it will over and over, and the justification that makes them happiest.

Dumb Dumb Dumb

just sayin... YMMV and JMHO

Sometimes it is fun to air your grievances and offer suggestions.

Plus, you get to see what people feel really passionate about.

I can't wait until I make Diamond in a cruise or two.😉

Prime status in casino going from 2500 points to 4000 points!? ( I tried to copy the exact quote from page 3, but failed copying it over)

Assuming you are speculating about this?  I have not seen or heard this...
