And I hate 75.  We've been lucky on I4...a little traffic at Disney, but then smooth sailing after.

I agree about after Disney... I get on 417 and it is nice after that. What I hate is from I75 & I4... up to the exit for 417.

That is an un biker like post.  As I said he is a politician.  If they sold 21000 packages at say $60 per day instead of $18. That is 42 times 21000 which is roughly ( on my iPhone no keyboard) 40 times 20000 for 10 days $8 million. It is made up math but politician level made up math.   No clue where that is versus profit or loss at the margin. IE what the cost is to provide the drinks. The entire discussion is on the revenue side zero information on the cost side.

I agree. At $18 it doesn't take much to break even so those who purchased at that price probably won't try to over drink just to break even or get their monies worth.

Wish I could join all you fun loving folks.  Alas my son still has 4 years of high school left.  Will be able to do these TA and TP once he goes off to college.

Will be glad to pick you and Bucky up at the pier for lunch at a local eatery if you dont have any plans.  Would love to take a ship from Honolulu to Vancouver and then do Alaska for a couple of sailings.

If we were not already on our 8th leg out of Sydney by then...that is also exactly what we would have done.  Fly to Hawaii for a couple weeks, board Serenade to Vancouver, then do a couple of loops to Alaska.  Great itinerary!  And yes...would love to see you! Thanks!  🙂

Yeah, I don't know how they get $8 million from that.  They lost some money on the normal 75 that would have been purchased.

I'd wager that a lot of those 21,000 packages were bought by soda and coffee bar people who saw it as a savings over the refreshment package price.  So they are primarily going to be getting sodas, coffees, virgin drinks, and now maybe a couple more liquor drinks or beers than they normally would order.  It's certainly not like RCI is going to have to double or triple load out each cruise with more beer and liquor.

Plus, those 21,000 packages are spread out over LOTS of different cruises.  I suspect the impact will be minimal.

Now, back to Crown & Anchor speculation and the Diamond Lounge fiasco!  Grab your pitch forks!  😉 😎

sorry rusty, I will not name VRS....no sense in getting that person in trouble. Let me just say VRS is in a position to know all about DL and is likely in communication with corp. several times a day.

That's all I got for ya

I have no doubt that your VRS was involved in discussion of potential changes. Probably lot's of different ideas are tossed out and for every idea adopted,  10 more end up in the trash bin.

Many people don't want to get rid of "status by marriage" or "status by inheritance".  If RC keeps these, perhaps to control unchecked numbers they should adopt the Game of Thrones Night King principle: if you get status through someone who passes on, your status disappears.

The DL is more of a social event and we have meet some wonderful people in them. We are on the Allure right now and have met some people who live within 10 miles of us and we will definitely keep in touch. We meet in the DL every night along with some other people. If you get there early enough it's much easier to get a table for 6 or 8 than it is to get a table this size in another venue. For the people who say 3 drinks is enough, it always isn't. The 3 drinks also includes water and soda. If you want a soda or a bottle of water then that eats up a drink or 2. The ones who keep saying they don't understand why people like to go to the DL then more power to you and then just stay out. More room for others who want to be in there.

good grief people, what do any of you do when trying to go to the ice / aqua show and you know its going to be full?

You make reservations. Can't do that in the lounges.

Make the CL the Pinnacle Lounge and everyone else 3 drinks on Sea Pass.

In my opinion

Are you pinnacle or close to it?

I think you know the answer to your question. It’s called the Suite Lounge. I have no objection to creating a Pinnacle lounge for Pinnacles. Pinnacle’s in Suites should also have access to the Suite Lounge. This is not a popular answer here on CC.

The answer is NO.

I my opinion

Why all the fuss.  Drinks you can get anywhere,  either in DL or CL, bars  or restaurants.  What you only can get in lounges are the appetizers.  I like pigs in a blanket, meatballs, fried shrimp, meat on a stick, spring rolls, fried mushrooms, cheeses, canapes, chocolates and desserts.  I will drink elsewhere but give me my apps.

The appetizers are really good. They are better on the Allure in the DL than they were in the CL on the Explorer.

Do you really want to go on a cruise

Just to sit in a isolated room with a bunch of people bragging on how many RC trips they have been on?

Once again, as usual posting about something you have no clue about. Same for many others on here. If you don't like the lounge then stay out. It's as simple as that.

yes, I agree it is very fuzzy. My point is not what their cost of booze is, but the excessive profit RCL can make if the new rule is in place and diamonds start purchasing drinks beyond the 3 sea pass limits or better still for RCL diamonds purchase the BP..

They wouldn't really make much off of me. I wouldn't purchase the BP and I might not buy any more drinks.

and sadly people would start “sharing” with family and friends....

So true. A few selfish people would ruin it for others. It would really be nice to have the 3 or 4 drinks on the sea pass and then 1 or 2 extra that could only be used for water or soda. I would still prefer to have a D lounge even if the drinks were limited. For some of us it's also about the socializing.

HI Graham...nice reply...but...

Isn't that a bit of a personal question?  Also brings to mind...the types that complain when upper tier brag about their points in the lounge.  When someone asks me how many cruises I have been on, or how many points I have...I just smile and say "Oh...a few" 😉

What difference does it make if he says how many points he has or how many cruises he has taken? I don't think I have seen him post that before so it's not like he's always bragging. I am curious at times to know this info because it makes sense as to why they post some of the answers that they do. Well, just sometimes and not always. 😁

Agreed.

After all, the complaints about the crowding in the lounge is only during the happy hour.   It can't just be the appetizers, can it?

I know some will say they enjoy the conversation with like-minded cruisers. But isn't that pretty much everyone on the ship? 🤔

I have found it much easier to get to know people in the diamond lounge than it is in most other places. They usually seem more receptive to socializing.

I agree people are more likely to socialise in the DL/CL than possibly other areas of the ship.

If anyone asks me a question I am happy to answer as accurately as I can at all times and hopefully other people do the same.

I think you missed it is here.  Graham is a friend of mine, I would never..ever see him as bragging.  And he was not.  I was miffed that a certain poster felt the need to directly ask him how many points he had (obviously expecting him to quote that he was over 350 and was trying to cut out perks for D+ that were under that...but it back fired).  Graham was polite (as usual) and answered fully.

Graham and Pauline are two of the nicest people you will meet on a cruise.  I can't wait to cruise with both of them, hopefully soon.

While this may be true, I think it might be hard for some people to accept that it's because many people feel more important in there and can't wait to have the usual conversation over cruising bragging rights.

There really is no lack of places to meet people on a cruise ship, let alone one with 5000+ people on it. Looking back to my last cruise last month, we met people in nearly every venue we went to. I think the only place we didn't meet someone was the comedy club.

In my experience people in the DL/CL are regular cruisers and have no need to brag about how many cruises they have been on unless asked.

We can make friends easily anywhere but people in the DL are usually outgoing and make conversations with you as soon as you sit down and why I agreed with the previous poster that it is a very sociable place.

Yikes! You or someone else made such a comment before and IIRC it was about Graham and I mistook it. Hopefully next time I will remember that the comment isn't being rude. Sorry about that.

Why does everyone think people who go to the DL do nothing but brag about how many cruises they have been on? Just because someone talks about some of their cruises doesn't mean they are bragging. I for one love to hear about others experiences and I have learned a great deal from them just as I do on here. Maybe I'm not meeting those people? I shall continue my perks and the company in there.
