I hope you can make it work. I am at the same point on my Kindle Fire HD 10. GooglePlay can only find the OceanCompass and the PlayOcean, both of which work - but no MedallionClass app is found.

I finally found the MedallionClass app by going in the "back door" --via regular Google search instead of Google Play.  I think the search string I used was "ocean medallion app" and the MedallionClass came up.  (Maybe you can find the app that way.)  Now I get the message, "Your device isn't compatible with this version", even though it's a relatively new Samsung Galaxy tablet.  So it looks like we're out of luck as far as using one of our devices.  I already paid for internet for four devices, so guess I'll have to revise that.  Not buying a new tablet or smart phone just for a week-long cruise.

Also, one of the notes on the MedallionClass app page says it's rated "Mature 17+".  Hmmmm....

No, you will still be able to use your Samsung Galaxy Tab on board, certainly for internet and most things like checking your room account, daily activities etc.

It's hard to explain I guess but when you get to your cabin there are simple instructions how to set up access to the ship InTRAnet which gets you all your room info, cruise activies etc. Takes less than two minutes. On the opening screen there is also a tab that connects you to the Internet. So other than the Medallion class things like ordring drinks from your device, playing casino games, which didn't interest me, your tablet is good for 99.9% of all you need.

UPDATE:  OK.  Here's the skinny.  I did get through to the Ocean Navigator help line (finally).  The rep said the app is made to be compatible with smart phones and not tablets.  She said it WILL work on iPad tablets, and Google tablets, but as far as they know, not any other brands of tablets.  Interesting that their fancy videos show just about everyone using tablets.

I don't know if what she said is true, but that's the info I got.  If it's anything like other companies' help lines there's a good chance I could call again and get an entirely different answer.  So there you have it, FWIW...

Great!  Thanks for that info.  I was all set to leave it home in a drawer.  I knew it could access basic internet, but wasn't sure about the rest of it.  Like you, we wouldn't use it for ordering drinks, gambling, etc., so it should be just fine.  I think the features of finding others in the group, and checking activities will be pretty good.  Thanks again!

Thanks for the update. I did find the MedallionClass app via a Google (Chrome) search, and, like you said it returned a 'not compatible' message. Maybe they will update the app by mid-September - my next Medallion Class cruise.

Your post made me want to check my Samsung tablet again. I recall about 8 months ago I attempted to set up Medallion Class App on my tablet and couldn't so I did it through my el cheapo Samsung Galaxy Pro cell phone.

Just now I tried to download the Medallion Class App on my Samsung tablet and it worked and all my Ocean Ready stuff for our Baltics cruise is there. Most personal details and passport info has copied across from our previous cruise. Strange. My tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S and it's pretty old by todays standards. It's running Android version 6.0.1 - whatever that means but I just accept the updates whenever I get prompted.

I use my tablet on the ship for Net access etc as I mentioned in an earlier post but I don't want to carry it around just to use it for the other functions. Interesting though that I could now set up Medallion Class on it when I couldn't before.

Thanks ecs66. I did see that. I will have my Galaxy 10+ phone, so I will likely use that, but I am hoping that they will also support the Kindle Fires for the bigger screens.

I forgot to mention that I did add a 256GB SD memory card to my Fire 7 tablet before I was able to load the MedallionClass app from the Google store.

Interesting.  I'll have to see what SD card is in the tablet now.  Thanks for the tip!

Probably getting above my level of expertise but I have no SD card in my tablet, just the initial memory, which is getting pretty full. I would doubt having an SD card would make it work. I initially got the message that the App was not compatible but then it worked. I might have cleared the cache etc but I don't recall doing anything different.

I think you're right; it seems that an app would depend on internal memory and not external.  I've been clearing caches and doing more updates which may or may not help. In any case, it isn't a life-or-death issue (I hope!!) and we'll deal with it.  In my career, my "thing" was troubleshooting and supporting tech stuff and I loved it.  Retired for ten years and it's not fun any more.  🙂

No certainly not the end of the world. I did the Medallion Class set up and the time it took was hardly worth the time it saved at check in. You never use that side of it again after embarkation. If not done they just give you the medallions at the port and away you go. Settle in to your cabin and connect to the intranet then the Net using the simple instructions in your cabin and you are set. From memory you type login.net in your browser, it recognises the ship intranet, use your surname and date of birth, and bingo you have the majority of what you need plus an icon to access the Net.

I just ask my kids to sort pc things out usually but with them and most computer geeks, knowledge is power so you only get drip fed what they want to tell you.😏

The video and other stuff on  Medallion Class says to put your cell on airplane mode and then restart the wifi. Because of my wife's 90 y/o mother, we like to keep our phones on because the ~$3.50 or so per minute charge is so much less than the Ship to Shore of nearly $10.  So, what happens (if anything) if we keep the phone active and on the Cell at Sea.

The last cruise we did, the Cellular at Sea did not seem to be working. My phone kept indicating no signal or if close to land it picked up the local carrier. I assume from your post you are using wifi calling because if not, if you put your phone in airplane mode you will not be able to receive calls or texts.

I can't find a Princess MedallionClass.  I downloaded an app and all it did was send me advertisements. Which App did you use.

Go to Google Play store or Apple App Store and in the search box type MedallionClass app.  It should bring it right up as the first option:  It should look like this:

Doesn't show.  First choice is OceanCompass.

Your internet or processor may be a bit slow, keep the search box open for a while and see if you get a more complete download of apps.  When I did a download from the apple store, it showed right away.  When I did a download on another device that needed the google play store the google play store took a long time to finally show the MedallionClass app.  (don't type in the word 'princess' just type into the search box 'medallionclass' as one word)

Just tried it on a laptop (yeah, I know but...) and it popped right up. You can always get it this way and tell it to install on your device.

THis is a good way to see if it is compatible with your device. I have a Kindle Fire HD 8 (6th generation), it is not compatible. It probably thinks it's running Android 5.x, since that is the current version available from Amazon for my device, although it's runnin Fire OS 5.3.6.4

I finally found it and it said my phone is not compatible!!!!   😣

I still use my flip phone so I bought a Fire 7 Tablet on Amazon.  It generally goes for $49.95 but I got it on sale for $29.00.  They say it isn't compatible with getting Google Play but I found a website where I got step by step instructions to be able to put Google Play on the Fire 7.  After I got the Google Play, I had to search for MedallionClass and leave the search going overnight but it finally showed up.  I loaded the MedallionClass app on the Fire 7 and so far, it is working just fine.  (I say 'so far' because I haven't been able to use it onboard as I got it for my cruise next week.)  Just a thought for you.  If you have time, keep an eye out for a sale on the Fire 7.  It was only $35.00 last week.  (BTW, use a brand new one - the older ones have a very limited operating system.)

Here is a link to the instructions to get Google Play on the Fire 7.

Just make sure you follow each step in exactly the same sequence.  Hope this helps.
