Can you take drinks off the ship?

I know this is a "no no" for food, but what about drinks? For example, if I am drinking a milkshake and get off the ship, do I have to trash my milkshake?

I have been known to take a personal cup of mine off of the ship and they've never asked what is in it. I do think it needs to be empty coming back on.

I've also taken a cup from the coffee shop off of the ship. Maybe with coffee in it...maybe with something else in it...no problems.

It honestly depends on the port. Some have no problems with it.  In some ports, you can't take off anything opened.  In some ports, you can't take off anything at all.

I grabbed a quick sweet roll while waiting in line to get off and had to either consume it or toss it!

Never had a problem taking a personal cup or bottle of water off the ship.  Bringing it back, it has to be dumped before boarding.

I've never had a problem taking my tumbler with me. Often filled with whiskey. I've also brought cans of soda, equally without issue.

On our last few cruises they have been making people pour out their drink cups and refillable bottles  before leaving the ship. The ship also announced that no open drinks could be taken off the ship. We were allow to take Carnival water bottles off the ship.

 I purchased a bucket of beer the night before, the next day I put them in a cooler along with some ice, bottled water, soda and brought them to half moon cay beach .

Half Moon Cay is a private port and the rules are different
