Recommendations for excursions

We will be coming there in about two weeks on Royal Caribbean... Can anyone recommend an excursion possibly thru Royal for a family... we plan on doing a ruins tour at another port...our kids are 14 and 11. Looking for something fun, but not one where we have to spend an hour or more getting there and coming back to port...possibly even something for just a half day excursion...

Cozumel is an island, so most of the excursions and activities revolve around the water (snorkeling?) or beaches. What are you interested in?

Chankanaab is a Marine park where your kids can swim with the dolphins ($$$), and then you can enjoy the beach, small pool, separate snorkel area, nature trails, etc.  Or skip the dolphin swim, pay the $20 admission fee, and enjoy everything else.  About a $12 cab ride each way.

Lots of beach clubs to choose from - Paradise Beach, Money Bar, Mr. Sanchos, etc. Most are lined up next to each other on the same side of the island, so only facilities and business plans (all inclusive, pay as you go, etc.) differ.   Read this board and check reviews on trip adviser to see which one meets your needs/desires.

Taxis are easy and well regulated (especially compared to the crooks in Philadelphia), with the fares in US dollars posted on a board near the cab line for your pier (3 piers on Cozumel - be sure you return to the correct one, which can be a challenge after too many margaritas!).  Have a great cruise!

I agree with John, just take a taxi to a beach club.  I suggest you scout out Paradise Beach on the web.  While they recently begin to offer an All Inclusive price option, you can still just walk in without reservations, $3 pp.  They have a pool and also water toys which are popular with tweeners and teens.

BTW, you'll most likely be at the TMM International Pier.

If your teens want to snorkel check out the Money Bar. No beach, you enter the water via steps. Good snorkeling from the shore, rental gear and guides if needed. Good facilities, lockers, lots of chairs and shade, plus good food, drinks and service. Taxi for up to 4 passengers will be about $12 each way. No admission fee.

Mitsugirly is a frequent contributor and has photo intensive reviews of many of the beach clubs on Cozumel linked in her signature. Check them out.
