That $30,000 coverage is the minimum Uninsured coverage Maryland requires us to buy. We can buy more coverage. 
 

Used cars can be purchased for $15,000. Also have seen a few new cars that were $15, 000 that are 2018 models that have not sold.

I understand your point, but keep in mind the other person's insurance (or your UIM property damage coverage) does not buy you a car.  It covers the value of your wrecked car, which is going to be heavily depreciated.
