Excellent news for anyone lucky enough to be going. New Year's Eve in Amsterdam is absolutely incredible.

One of the best places in the world to be that night. Wild, noisy, amazing. Don't expect a lot of sleep but just a fantastic place to be that night.

Used to go almost every year.

Great place to dock at the cruise terminal a short scenic walk to the Grand Central Station and the canals. We have docked here twice and is as it should be all the time. IJmuiden is no comparison.Have a great time.

Im sure the change of heart while greatly received is mainly down to the logistics and the cost of finding numerous coaches (as most of the ship will be in Amsterdam through the night and early hours) to shuttle to and from IJmuiden on New Years Eve incurring extra payments for staff and vehicles, that’s if you can find enough staff to work that evening. Your good fortune have a great trip.

It sounds as if you are either in Amsterdam overnight  or going into town for the evening.  That sounds like great fun.

I hope so... we were on Cunard on a  short New Year cruise.  We all waited eagerly on deck and at midnight the fireworks started, but most of them were behind tall flats near to where we were berthed and there was so much smoke that we couldn't see anything else.

It was so bad that it was hilarious and everyone took it in good part.. even the captain asked us if we enjoyed the smoke and listening to the fireworks!!!!

That was a few years ago now so things have probably changed.  It was a never to be forgotten experience!

Last year on Queen Elizabeth and QV the year before, we had fabulous views of the fireworks. they must have sorted it!

Yes, I thought they would have had to sort it ready for the next year.  Probably just a rotten berth.

We couldn't do any more than laugh.

Have fun everybody on NYE,  Madeira is another fantastic place to be that night.  couldn't believe what we were seeing.

We will be at sea on Oceana, but we will be celebrating well!!!
