Blue90 Posted November 22, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 22, 2019 Hello, Made an account on NCL this week and the last few nights I've been pricing out a cruise I was planning next year. Got all the way to the end to figure out the pricing but never asked for a courtesy hold or anything. Anyways, I got a very quick call missed call today that rang once and then an email followed shortly after from tech@email.ncl.com asking me to call to discuss new promotions. Is this normal for them to reach out like this?

By creating the account you have opted in to these solicitations.

Has anyone ever called back and gotten a better promotion than was offered online?

Any time you leave an unfinished reservation, you will be contacted to ensure that you know that you forgot to hit the “buy” button.

Carnival has multiple times for me... told them to take a long walk off a short dock... :) My NCL guy normally just sends an email every now and then to check in. Never had him cold call me.

Princess certainly does it.... as does Amazon, Disney World, Wayfair, any casino, National Car Rental, Ocean State Job Lot, Shell Rewards..... Don't think I was able to enter other room members on the final page without logging in. Just wanted to see the Passengers 3&4 free promo
Rare All-ready2cruise Posted November 22, 2019 #8 Share Posted November 22, 2019 It's definitely a Marketing scheme, don't let it bother you. I search all the time for cruises I might be interested in but rarely log into the NCL site. I even use an online TA to compare prices and promos, options. You should be able to add more passengers when selecting a cabin category ei. when selecting a balcony, it will always show 2 passenger, click the arrow down and add 2-6 more pax, that will change the price/passenger. Keep in mind, any Free at sea promos will be either 1st 2 pax in the cabin or it will be per cabin.
RNRcruisers Posted November 22, 2019 #9 Share Posted November 22, 2019 NCL has done this to me. I was checking out cruises and got a couple of calls within the next few days. I didn't answer but they left a voice-mail. I haven't ever had Princess do this.
luckyinpa Posted November 22, 2019 #10 Share Posted November 22, 2019 my princess TA will call then if i dont pick up her email follows in 30 seconds. still it has to be awkward leaving VM saying are you ready to book a cruise. id be loyal to her for princess because she got me credits combined with another passenger i was going with after a canceled cruise, which is not normal policy. so gold star for her! my NCL guy is a joke. i get his emails every day. one time back in august i emailed him to ask a question . still waiting for the answer. booked with online TA. saved a bunch more of course. also if im logged in with ncl i get all the email reminders to complete the booking so just make sure you log out if you wanna avoid them
stefmaia Posted November 22, 2019 #11 Share Posted November 22, 2019 Find your “incognito/private” function on your browser and use it. Once you have been “seen” looking at a particular thing many companies have it set up that you will never see their product at a cheaper price. Rare melodyesch Posted November 23, 2019 #12 Share Posted November 23, 2019 I had that happen when I put a cruise on hold and then let it expire. I received a call a few days later that first annoyed me, but the guy ended up being very helpful and polite. He could see all of the available cabins and ended up booking me into a perfect one that wasn’t presented as an option to me on the website. So I will contact him from now on. Greek Boss Posted November 23, 2019 #13 Share Posted November 23, 2019 Even though we always book our cruises on our own, I get emails multiple times a day from "my" NCL Cruise Consultant who I have never worked with or spoken to in my life. Two weeks ago I took two first timers on NCL and shortly after entering their contact info on the online check-in they started getting missed calls and voicemails from the same NCL Cruise Consultant. It is annoying, but normal.
don't-use-real-name Posted November 23, 2019 #14 Share Posted November 23, 2019 Have you tried to UNSUBSCRIBE - Like BirdTravels noted if you do a dummy booking you will be reminded (pestered) about completing the booking - Remember to Ignore those by deleting the email - About those unwanted phone call bookings just BLOCK the caller "What part of do not contact do you not understand" ! Only calls I want to entertain are the ones from my TA about something to do with an existing booking or one that I have specifically called about for research
