Beijing and Shanghai transfers

Thinking of booking our own air.  I would like to know cost of taxi from to/from these airports to downtown hotels?

I did not use taxis in either city but others in our group did. Be sure you have your destination written in Chinese on a card or paper. In Shangai friends of ours decided to go to the Bund by Taxi. The driver rode around for an hour before he decided to return to hotel and have our guide write  it in Chinese! I elected to take the subway!!!!!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a private transfer company for Beijing?  Would rather not look for a Taxi after long flight from US.
