Hold'em Tournament Inquiry

Recommended Posts

They used to have Hold'em Tournaments on the ships, but I haven't seen them lately.  Does anyone know why?

My wife and I are going on the December 19th Hawaiian trip and were interested.  If not, does anyone know the procedures on how one can be generated.  Do we need to go through Princess or just inquire passengers if they are interested?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We would be willing to host in our cabin if that's an option.

nothin' better then cruisin' across the deep blue Pacific while holding winning hand on a high dollar pot.   We waited until on board and spoke with the casino manager to set up a tourney.  There was a player a the table who stated that on  his previous cruise Casino management allowed him to set up a tournament prior to departure via a phone call and e mails.

IDK why they do not hold them any longer.  As I recall, they ran a $60 buy-in and a $100 buy-in game.

They have an intro to the electronic table on Day 1 and then it is simply $1/$2 No-Limit games after that.  Table is always open when casino is open, but they seem to always publish it for 9pm in the Patter.  Sometimes they add a 2pm time on sea days, but you can play anytime table is open (as long as enough players show up).  I recall years back on Caribbean cruises, the table was running from much earlier in the evening and there were sign-up boards.

I guess if you had a group interested in tournament style, I would approach the casino host(ess) and inquire.  I think they might accommodate at an "off" time (like not 9pm + in the evening - try daytime hours).

If there were a group of players willing/interested to play a cash game, it would be best to hold it in a cabin because I would think staff would shut down a gambling game in public rooms.  I have never participated in one, but always interested as the house rake is avoided.  Thing is, who is going to lug heavy poker chip case to the cruise?  Works better with buy-in for chips and not using actual cash.  The casino does not lend out chips.

Otherwise, once a group gets started playing, best to agree on a time for next afternoon/night so people know players are hopefully going to show up.

Took your advice, I sent an invite for those interested that we would be happy to host a intimate tourney in our cabin.  We are on the December 19th cruise to Hawaii round trip from Los Angeles.  If you happen to be on that cruise, shoot me off your Cabin number so I can contact you and give you an official invite.  We will supply the chips and cards.  Buy in will be $10 and we will reward 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

Nope, not on your cruise.  Good luck with the game.  If I was there I would propose $20.
