TRANSFER AT PORT OF MIAMI FROM ONE RCL SHIP TO ANOTHER

Has anyone gone from one RCL ship to another at the Port of Miami.  Arriving on Feb 2,2020 on the Oasis and getting on the Explorer on Feb 2 both at Port of Miami

Yes, just did it Empress to Symphony. 

 

I would not call it efficient,  but we got there.

Its called a side to side.  I did it earlier this year, but actually went from Mariner at port of Miami to Independence at Port Everglades. Royal was great, they even arranged free transportation for me.

If both ships are at the Port of Miami, you can walk from one ship to the other.....they are basically "parallel parked" along the dock.

Oasis and Explorer dock at opposite ends of the Miami terminal.  It’s a long walk.

Exactly......it's a long walk.  It is an option (and we did it once) to walk.  Not recommended unless you love to walk.  Another option would be a taxi ride...the driver would probably be surprised that you're only going "down the street".  Another option is asking guest services if they have a shuttle going from Terminal A to Terminal G parking lot and if you could get a ride. Another option is taking the free Miami Trolley that goes around the Miami cruise terminal, with a number of stops, and to downtown Miami.  Take the free trolley near Terminal A and get off near Terminal G...make sure to get off before the trolley goes over the bridge...if you miss your stop, you'll have to ride the trolley all through downtown Miami and ride it back to the cruise terminal. Note: You'll have to carry your own luggages up the trolley. Happy sailing!

This is great to hear!  We didn’t think Royal would still do this.

Sure go for it, only 1.3+ mile walk for OP...not counting traffic for all other ships in the middle

It is made easy by the fact that Royal calls them "consecutive cruises", and thus doesn't care if you are on the same ship or a different one.  😄 

 

There, that takes care of the nomenclature.

 

RC will provide transportation from one Miami pier to another.  (and as mentioned by another poster, even Miami to Port Everglades).  Sometimes it's a whole van, sometimes it's space on a van going somewhere else, also.  Depends on how many people request the service.

 

Talk to Guest Services on board.  If they seem unable or unwilling to help, speak to the Loyalty Ambassador, or Concierge, if you have access.

Did they tell you ahead of time, or were you informed on board the Mariner.

It's not only a long walk.  It is through highly hazardous active construction zones.

I just got off of Oasis of the Seas last Sunday - quite a few people had to park at the other terminals and take the shuttle back to terminal A for Oasis. I was up on the top deck and got to the terminal at 11 am.
When I walked out from baggage claim to the street - the shuttle buses were there for people parked in the other lots. Since you leave your ticket in the car, I guess you could say your car is parked at the other terminal.
Now, I'll be going on Empress in January, and when I looked to see what terminal to park at - all they tell me is that RC is terminal A. grrrr I will be calling them to find out which terminal.

Agree, not tough on me as walk min 10 miles a day. But with Luggage, Traffic and Construction as you said many should or would avoid. ...Point was kinda directed at certain poster

Walking from 1 terminal to the other is probably not a good idea.  The area is undergoing construction and walkways are closed in some areas.  Oasis will be at Terminal A.

Thanks everyone who had great info on this.  RCL acted like they had never heard of this before...including the person at the Diamond Plus desk.  I know I can always rely on Cruise Critic people to have the correct info.  Thanks again.

Does RCCL notify guests what terminal each ship is located at when nearing the cruise departure date?  I understand that Oasis will most likley be at Terminal A but what about other ships?

Not usually.  Each cruise terminal has signs to direct you.
