Coral Princess

We just returned from our Panama Canal cruise. It was from San Francisco to Fort Lauderdale. The ship was beautiful. The service phenomenal. The food was hit or miss. I enjoyed the goat cheese soufflé. The flourless cake is a must try. It was only available the first night, which we did not know and we had already had reservations at the Specialty Restaurant. But we asked about it a few days later and the head waiter served it to us the following day. That was so thoughtful. I did not like the Bayou steakhouse. My fillet mignon wasn’t very good. My husband did not care for the New York steak. We prefer the Crown Grill we’ve been to on previous cruises. We had a balcony cabin on the Caribe deck. The cabin had lot of storage space, but the shower was ridiculously small. I’m tiny and could barely fit in it.
The casino is small. My husband played blackjack, but it was very slow. He does not like playing with only the dealer and that happened a lot. So he didn’t play as much. The international cafe was small too, but I still liked it.

The Princess theater was beautiful, but we found it odd that you could only enter and exit it from the top and then if you wanted good seats you would have to walk all the way down. To me it’s not a great set up. However I did love the Universe Lounge. Stunning. We saw the show On the Bayou. I loved that show. In the Princess theater we saw Encore which was amazing. They had a guest soprano and she was the best singer I have ever heard on a ship. She could break glass with that tone.
The Lido pool was cold for the first few days. It is not shallow. I enjoyed it. The Lotus pool was gorgeous, a bit warmer, but no drink runners so we spent our time by the Lido pool.

We received great service from the bar tenders.

Overall the ship was beautiful, great itinerary except Columbia. Very pushy vendors and a lot of them. The ship was a nice size, but we found we liked the Grand size better. We will be going on the Royal next year so I’m sure we will be overwhelmed.

We were on the Panama Canal cruise too.  Had a great time.  We were in a mini suite so didn't have trouble with the shower as it was in the tub and had plenty of room.  May I add that the Internet connection was the best we've ever had on a ship.  Even worked great when we were on our balcony.  Was our first cruise on Princess.

Interesting to read your thoughts on the Coral. We will be boarding her in Buenos Aries in just over a month  We’ve sailed on 9 princes ships but it’ll be our first time on the Coral although our first was on the Island many years ago when she still had the same floor plan.

thanks for posting
