love2shell Posted December 17, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2019 Are there any perks with booking a Vista Suite? Special line for embarkation, tender priority, anything like that? This is for the Volendam if it makes a difference. Thanks in advance!
VennDiagram Posted December 17, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 17, 2019 You get a balcony. And a "telephone concierge". Also, if you book a suite, you get double "sailing days" credit towards your Mariner level (this doesn't apply if you take an upsell to a suite, though) The balcony is the best part of that short list. The telephone concierge is the Front Desk....
crystalspin Posted December 17, 2019 #3 Share Posted December 17, 2019 The Vista Suite does not qualify for the double sailing days. Only cabins with "S" as first letter in their codes.

They did on the old Statendam, and the old Ryndam, and the Zaandam. Edited December 18, 2019 by VennDiagram

We compared the cabin to our sons’ regular balcony and didn’t see much difference except we got the double days and they didn’t. I haven't been on the new big ones so thank you for that info 🙂 My lack of knowledge about the big ones is why I referred only to my knowledge of the smaller ships. Ryten Posted December 18, 2019 #7 Share Posted December 18, 2019 Had a Vista on the Volendam last month. Seven days after the cruise my Mariner account showed double days for the 9 day cruise. We were happy to keep working more quickly to five star.

crystalspin Posted December 18, 2019 #9 Share Posted December 18, 2019 (edited) Huh, we sailed on the Zaandam in a Verandah/Vista "suite" in 2014 and did not get double points. Oh! @RuthC-- you figured it out, we took an upsell! That had slipped my mind... I stand humbly corrected! The new ships have both Verandah and Vista Suite, and the latter is larger. The R-class have only Vista Suites, and the one we had was plenty big. Edited December 18, 2019 by crystalspin
DoggyDaddy Posted December 18, 2019 #10 Share Posted December 18, 2019 We had a pair of binoculars in our Vista cabin in the Princendam. Also a balcony and double cruise credits. DD
MisterBill99 Posted December 18, 2019 #11 Share Posted December 18, 2019 (edited) I really don't understand why HAL doesn't extend the early embarkation perk to all varieties of suites. We were in a Signature Suite on Eurodam a few years ago and couldn't believe that we had to wait to board with everyone else. There are so many early embarkers now I wonder if they could handle even more. Neptunes/Pinnacle suites, handicap, 4 and 5 star, and now Club Orange. At some airports the room for them is not that large.
DeeniEncinitas Posted December 18, 2019 #13 Share Posted December 18, 2019 On our Maasdam Cruise there were binoculars a umbrella and nice blankets for our balcony! Also double mariner points. The concierge line was very helpful for us never waiting on the phone. Denise😊
