What time are cabins ready on the Star Princess?

We are sailing on the Star Princess January 3 out of LA.  We are allowed to board at 12:30, but I wonder when cabins are usually ready for guest use. I haven’t sailed with Princess for many years so I would appreciate input from those of you with a recent sailing on the Star.

Thank you,

MomC

In my most recent experiences cabins have been ready for use by 1:00 at the latest.  Please note I'm not speaking about Star and as anyone hear will tell you there are ship to ship differences across the Princess fleet, still, I feel safe suggesting 1:00 to you.  It's entirely possible you'll be able to go straight there upon boarding at 12:30.

About that 12:30 boarding time.  You say "allowed" which I guess is you're understanding of Princess progressive boarding schedule.  You'll probably find you can board with no or very few lines at that time.  Princess doesn't enforce the suggested boarding times so you may well get onboard earlier if you're there - however, by arriving at 12:30, frankly you probably make the experience more pleasant and efficient.

Happy sailing!

It is not the ship itself which determines the boarding time;

for example, we were a bit "late" boarding at Red Hook (NYC) because

for some reason, some sort of inspection was taking place so boarding

time was delayed until the inspection was complete.

Also, I noticed that on one of our future cruises, that the ship departs port at 10:00 p.m.

so boarding will probably be about 5:00 p.m.

Under normal conditions it is the ship that determines the boarding time, but not always.

I apologize for not being more clear; I meant to say that the Star itself does

not have different boarding times just because it is the Star to differentiate from the

concept that all Princess ships board at 12:30 p.m. no matter what. Of course, the ship

determines its schedule as best as possible.
