I JUST BOOKED THE OASIS FOR SPRING BREAK

Oasis class is amazing between the incredible shows, food options, areas to explore, etc.  Really interested in hearing what you think. We've been on Allure and Symphony (with Oasis booked later in the future), but they're all similar being the same class.

Perhaps this is is your first Oasis tip - look for the “small wonders” scattered throughout the ship. They’re viewfinders that you look through that give you a unique macro look at something nearby. I just hope they haven’t removed them during the recent amplification of the ship. Guest services had a full list of them available if you ask.

They're still there!  Oasis class ships are my favorite but so, so big!

Our spring break isn't until the middle of April so you'll be on her a month and a half before us.

I have been saying I wanted to sail the Oasis or Allure for probably 10 years now and I'm finally getting to do it! I'm so excited!! I'm going to have to step up my walking game for this ship! whew

I'm looking forward to booking Allure when she arrives in Galveston in 2021.

Wow, that's awesome! I think your crew will love Oasis! We sailed her to Western Carribean for spring break in 2016. It was SO crowded, but we really only noticed a problem at the pools. So many options for dining, entertainment & fun! In the end, we determined we prefer the Freedom class ships, but would definitely go back on an Oasis class if the price was right! I can't wait to read your review of her!

I knew you would take my comment about not being able to get the pics from top to bottom as a challenge 😀. You go girl!

If anyone can do it you will.

Which cabin did you book?

Im looking to cruise but early April so if it happens to be Oasis we will likely be passing each other me getting off and you getting off.  However,  I mostly cruise Royal but I have a free cruise with NCL so I’m considering that out of NY to Bermuda on a 4 day sailing on Escape. I’m pressed for time so if I’m getting to NY for the first time I will stay a few nights before cruise and that way it will still be one week PTO. I think you went to Bermuda in April, what was the weather like?  This would be first time on NCL too.

This is cat looks like our Carly, only Carly’s tail is more fluffy. Carly is quite the predator. I’ve rescued many little critters from her deadly clutches when they’ve made the mistake of finding their way into our house. Unfortunately, there were a few I couldn’t get to fast enough. To my knowledge, she hasn’t had access to catch a bird yet, but Sakari’s picture is exactly what Carly would look like if she did manage to catch one! 😱

I’m excited for you that you’ve finally booked Oasis! We have sailed on her twice now, as well as on her sister, Symphony. We will be on Harmony in October. We’re currently booked in a Boardwalk Balcony, 10329, the very last Boardwalk Balcony on Deck 10. We were in 10327 on our first Oasis cruise and enjoyed watching all the activities on the Boardwalk from our balcony.

Have fun doing your research on Oasis. There’s so much to see and do on Oasis class ships that it really helps to know what the things you and your family consider to be “don’t miss” kinds of things, and also to know where they are so you can find them without a lot of extra walking.

Loki is a predator as well. Nothing gets in our yard. He catches mice, moles, birds...you name it. But, he absolutely loves our cat. They cuddle up together and she has a fit when he goes outside. She'll stand at the door and meow and watch his every move. We thought for sure he'd try to eat her when we first brought her home. She was abandoned at our business and was so tiny. I'm guessing maybe 4 weeks old. So small that he could have easily mistaken her for a mouse or something.

Sakari's picture is supposed to be a jaguar (their school mascot). I don't think she's ever really drawn any type of cats (she was always more focuses on sea animals, dogs and birds growing up) and the school ask her to draw a jaguar to be put on the wall. It was her first attempt and then she started practicing on her pad.

We are in room 10327!!!!!! How cool is that? Can you tell me...is there an actual couch in there or is it a chair? Kendra is trying to book 2 doors down from me and it's the same room but I think she's going to book her and the kids and maybe later add her fiance. We were trying to figure out if that's an actual couch that pulls out into a bed (for the kids). I found a 360 view online and it appears to be a chair in there on it.

Give me more hints of things not to miss or shows. I know absolutely nothing about the Oasis other than it has Central Park.

I've always heard that the shows are amazing! This will probably be one cruise that I won't want to miss the shows on the ship.

Haha. I told the hubby about your comment and what I said...he said "I just knew that would be your response!" LOL

They are doing a 4 day on the Escape? Weird. It's usually 7 days.

Actually we went in June and October. June was wonderful...October was a little cooler but still great weather (and when I say great weather...I'm talking about good enough for our crew to swim!)

Yep, that's exactly what I did! I wanted a balcony with a view of the aqua shows! I realize it's going to be a long haul and I need to step up my game over the next few months with walking. Maybe it will whip me back into somewhat of a shape pre-injury. I could use the exercise and weight loss at this point. That just might do it for me. lol

I’m enjoying your review and looking forward to reading about your day in Cozumel!

We stayed in an Aquatheater suite on Allure a couple of years ago. I loved being at the back of the ship. There was very little foot traffic, so it was super quiet. Lots of people talk about the long walk to the elevators, but we didn’t think it was that far! We’ve been on Harmony too and love that class of ship.

Hi Kim,

I was wondering what your suggestion would be for Costa Maya.  Is it nice just to stay at the cruise port?  You went to the amusement/water park and it looked like fun but we are not big into amusement parks but the water park looked like fun.  We are in our late fifties and wouldn't zipline or any of that.  Have you ever done anything else at this port?  Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions.

I am not Kim but I would highly recommend Maya Chan in Costa Maya. We went on our last cruise and are going back in February because we liked it so much. Super relaxing all inclusive with awesome staff. Food and drinks were super good. I think it's like $65? Per person which includes transportation to and from cruise port.

I'm not Kim either, but if you click on her website and click on the port section, you can see Costa Maya and there are some good beach reviews there: http://mitsubishigirl19.wixsite.com/mitsugirlys-cruise/costa-maya-excursions

Excursions in Costa Maya are limited.

Basically, the port area, which includes free swimming pool and some entertainment but expensive food and drinks;

many beach bars of various qualities in Mahahual (5 minutes away) with associated snorkeling/fishing;

some isolated beach clubs like Maya Chan, Almaplena, Hayhu ( Mitsugirly has a couple of reviews from some years ago in her signature plus the places she has visited on the malecon, Mahahual)

or excursion to ruins and Bacalar in various combinations.

Best to check out the port of call board to help you narrow down places of interest to you.

https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/102-costa-maya/

We are in your age and would only consider the very expensive water park with grand kids.

Hopefully I won't think it's too long of a walk and tire out. Fingers crossed.

The cruise port is nice but it depends on what you plan on doing or like to do. The cruise port has a huge pool, plenty of places to eat at and of course plenty of shopping. They have the bird aviary (extra cost) and free shows to watch.

I'm in my 50's but like doing things like the water park or adventurous things. Since we are basically beach-loving people, that's what you will find me doing most of the time and if it involves snorkeling of some type, then that's what we do.

So, mostly what we have done are the beaches. My website is listed in my signature line. The website is broken down in categories at the top...and you will see ports. Then you can go to Costa Maya and click on it and see all the beaches we have been to.

The only other thing I know there is to do there is go to the Mayan Ruins (which we have never been because we are really not into that type of thing).

I hope that helps.

Not on purpose. Sorry about that. It's just been a busy week. I started sifting through my photo's early this morning and then had to leave and now with the hubby at work. I went to try to log on to my computer at home to work on getting the pictures together and found that I forgot to keep my remote up to be able to get on my home computer. UGH!

When I get home tonight I'll get more of this review going and promise to start our day in Cozumel.

Hi Kim,  love your review as usual.  I read all your NCL travels (still only cruising with them😁).  Hope this year is going well for you so far and your leg is healing properly

Quick question: do you remember who the cruise director was?  My Sister and I are Escaping on February 8 and we’re just wondering if it’s still Tyler

Looking forward to the rest of your review.  So excited about ours, so hanging on your every word. Lol

Hi all!

mitsugirly ~ so glad to hear you're finally going on Oasis!  Looking forward to your review of it.

I went on it in Nov 2011 with my sister, her one & only cruise. She really liked it but has a cottage & a place in AZ so doesn't tend to travel much. We had a Central Park balcony & liked it. We both have places on the water so it's not that big a factor in choosing a cabin.

It's really a different experience with the neighbourhoods & different shows. You're sure to love it. I can hardly wait!😉

I have never been to Europe at all. I can't say I have ever really considered it...if it's not the Caribbean or the beach...well, you know us, it's just not something that interest us.

DAY 6: COZUMEL, MEXICO

We were here today from 8-5pm and did have an excursion planned. So, that meant we were on a time frame and needed to be up at a certain time.

We (and by we I mean I of course) decided to head back up to Margaritaville for breakfast. I knew that would be a lot quicker than heading to the buffet.

Here's a sampling of what they offer.

I decided to go with an omelette this time around.

Everything was yummy and we were ready to head down and exchange our towels and grab our bags to get ready to head out.
