Ghibli2000 Posted December 27, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2019 Hi Guys - I didnt know if we had any fellow LGBT couples that like Oceania Cruises? My partner and I have been 5 times and we love them. It would be good to meet some other people who also like to cruise.

larry_s_taco Posted April 13, 2020 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2020 They don't have LGBT get togethers on Oceania?

They still do have Friends of Bill W meetings I believe. Privately arranged get togethers are probably the best option - perhaps from roll call? cbb Posted April 13, 2020 #7 Share Posted April 13, 2020 Talk to the cruise director when you get on. Friends of Bill often on daily schedule. We left Insignia ATW20 March 15 and they were having meetings before our cancellation.
Mura Posted April 13, 2020 #8 Share Posted April 13, 2020 They've always had the Friends of Bill meetings, and on most of our cruises there were also hosted gatherings for single travelers. Assuming they are enough LGBT people on board -- and my experience has been that they almost always are (if not always) -- then it should be able to be arranged. I agree: ask first on your roll call. Or enlist your friends to book! When we first cruised LGBT people seemed to be hiding. We met some in the early days, but they seemed few and far between. But that is no longer true. cbb Posted April 14, 2020 #9 Share Posted April 14, 2020 added/ edited to my above post. LGBT were meeting in Horizons often. Please talk to your CD--he/she will be very happy to help you find a place to meet.
Rare LHT28 Posted April 14, 2020 #10 Share Posted April 14, 2020 AFAIK Usually not in the newsletter anymore Too many groups wanted meetings listed so they stopped advertising all but the Friends of Bill ones
RetiredLifer Posted April 14, 2020 #11 Share Posted April 14, 2020 We were on the Marina for what turned out to be Miami to Miami around South America which lasted from January 22nd to March 21st. There were frequent LGBT get togethers hosted by the Assistant CD. These get togethers were listed in the Daily Currents.

RetiredLifer Posted April 14, 2020 #15 Share Posted April 14, 2020 The Military Veteran get together was put together and hosted by CD Paul Baya every time. Not much different from Needlepoint other then they did not hand out free needlepoint kits.
Rare Noxequifans Posted April 14, 2020 #16 Share Posted April 14, 2020 One of our O cruises made several stops in Vietnam. Before we arrived, there was a veterans meeting ... which was announced. About 20 of us attended including one former POW. He spoke a bit and it was very moving. The stops and excursions were memorable.

We did not have a Veteran's meeting but there were at least 4 of us who had served a tour in Vietnam on that segment. None of us knew each other before we met on the cruise. The interaction we had with each other and returning to Vietnam was something I will never forget. Concerning this most recent cruise on the Marina wherein CD Paul hosted the Veteran get togethers , we had at least 20 to 25 Men and Women Veterans from as many as 5 different countries with service spanning from the Korean War through the present. The cruise was, for us, a back to back to back so each segment had some of us who stayed on and new Vets who got on as each new segment began.
