Nature walk on Coco Cay

Does anyone know if there is still a path through undeveloped areas on Coco Cay? I've seen some great old photos and posts on birdwatching and am hoping that can still be done. TIA

Well darn. Thanks for answering. We will likely have binoculars with us anyway so we'll see if we can catch some sightings in the less crowded areas

That is disappointing. I had hoped there was a little bit of nature still remaining.

That was our always our favorite thing to do on Coco Cay.  We would walk the beach along the back side, past South Beach, then pull our walking shoes out of the back packs we carried.  Take the trail to the far end, and enjoy our peaceful, quiet time sitting up on the bluff with that great view over the water with the ship in the back ground.  Indeed enjoyed the birds along the way, plus the Peacocks, wild chickens, and Iquanas.  

 

All gone now.  Torn out and no plans to replace.  Naturally RCI did not make money on you if you enjoyed that trail, so no reason for them to keep it maintained any longer.   Now it's all construction equipment and gated off with no trespassing signs out there...sadly.  You are not going to find any uncrowded areas...those days are gone.  

 

It's a shame they could not leave at least some natural areas to enjoy.  Theme park score one...Mother Nature zero.  😞

We enjoyed our visit to Coco Cay before Perfect Day was built.

Yep, that’s exactly what we used to do.  Walk the trail, sit up on the bluff, and enjoy our perfect day.  I’d be surprised if you see a single bird now.  😩  Today’s Coco Cay is definitely NOT our perfect day!  Should be a pretty nice day on the ship though!

I also miss the trails.  Other then having a dock instead of tenders, the change took out the magic of Coco Cay.

It has been many years since we visited Coco Cay, and we are now considering cruise with it on the itinerary.  Has it turned into an amusement park, or are there quiet areas where you can still enjoy the beach--either free or a nominal charge?

There are still quiet areas that have no extra charge.

The pool area is free  but the music is LOUD. The beach area (free except for the soon to open Cocoa Beach Club)  is beautiful and often quieter. Almost all of the original beaches are still there. And, there is an additional lagoon beach.

A Perfect Day must not include a nature walk 🤔

While I'm not opposed to the amenities on Cococay, it would have been nice if they left some area

We always spent the whole day on the island, at the other end.  So pretty and quiet.  Now...we just get off the ship early, walk the area...and then back to the ship as it begins to get noisy and crazy later.  We do the same thing at Labadee...same situation.

We used to even toss a split of red wine and a couple of plastic wine glasses in our back pack.  Enjoyed a glass of wine while sitting up there on that bluff, watching the birds and the fish surfacing below.  Brought our small pair of binoculars to check out the view. That was our Perfect Day.  🙂 

 

Now....eh...walk around a bit for some exercise..and back to the ship.  And yes...lovely on the uncrowded ship...and much better choice (IMHO) for lunch.  😉

We were there a few weeks ago...could not find one quiet area anywhere.  The continuing construction noise does not help either.

Huge long areas of separation tarps blocking off the other side beaches when we were there.  Big earth movers working along the shoreline.

You got that right.  Some will say they are putting in a new "natural area" with Coco Beach Club...at a price now of course.  🤑

We will have to wait until all the construction is completed to see if there is going to be any trails left.  We were there in early December and had a beautiful, quiet day on the beach and in the water.  Food is much improved and the pier was very convenient.  It is what you make of it.  Going again next months and am looking forward to seeing the changes.
