I know for children under 3 they charge per hour for babysitting in the nursery. I know I have heard it is $6 during the day and $8 in the evening. Does anyone know what time they start charging $8 an hour?

I think it’s 10pm - the same time Adventure Ocean begins charging for late night party zone.

It’s normally 5 or 6 pm from our experience that they start charging the increased rate.  Definitely not 10pm.  That is the late night party zone time for Aventure Ocean.

I was just told by a customer service rep that they are as follows:

9am-Noon

2pm-5pm

7pm-10pm

 

They are closed from Noon-2pm and 5pm-7pm, can anyone confirm if that is true?

Can Confirm, except some ships might be open until midnight.

 

But the play area next to the Nursery is open for Open Play

Those are the hours for the 3 and up programs. The nurseries for 6-36 months olds are open continuously from 7 am or 8 am until just before 12 am. Sorry to be imprecise. This was true on Symphony, Harmony, and Independence and I think the hours are fairly uniform for all ships.

Ovation was 9am to noon and 2pm to midnight on sea days, 9am to midnight on port days.

It depends on the ship.

 

On a sea day, if a ship has an separate open play area then they are generally open 9am till midnight (but will close at 10pm if there are no bookings), but some might close over lunch 12-2pm-ish.

If a ship does not have an open play area (vision/radiance class for example) and the nursery is used instead then they will be open 9am -12 noon, then the nursery is available for free play until it opens for drop off again for the evening (which can vary slightly between ships but usually around 5-6pm, again until midnight or 10pm if no bookings. 

 

On port days, if the ship has an open play area then usually when the ship docks (if before 9am) or 9am, all the way through until 10pm/midnight. 

A ship with no open play area will not be open for drop off until the evening session, unless you have a pre-booked RC shore excursion and they will open up for you, or if the ship docks at or after lunch time, then they may open up for the morning session too.

Our experience with Adventure Ocean (Aquanauts) has been that they don't actually "close". If your child is there at noon they take them to lunch and if there at 5:00pm they take them to dinner.

Sure, if you show up during these times AO will appear closed for new check ins. because they are at the WJ.

Nursery hours are highly variable based on ship,  The only way to know the exact nursery hours is to know the ship you are on and ask the forum and hope someone has been on the ship recently as hours can vary over time so the hours a month ago may not be the same this month.  We have spent many many hours using the nursery since 2012.

You will be fine then.  Likely 8 or 9 am to -midnight practically everyday.  The oasis class ships have very liberal hours unlike the radiance or vision or even the freedom or voyager class ships.   There will be ample babies on board so they are typically open practically the whole time.
