What you see as sold out is likely not the entire inventory picture.

In addition to what Bob stated above it is also so they have an inventory of people that have committed $ to upgrade in case they get a cancellation.

It only takes one empty cabin to start a domino effect of upgrades.  And they sell those upgrades.

They just want a stand by group to upfill any vacancies that they still have or that may arise prior to sailing.

The excursions were very cheap, but I would need transportation from Singapore.  Already been to Malaysia, wish they would go to New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Guam, Saipan, Palawan, Boracay.

Probably same reason I got a survey after my 12 night southern Caribbean cruise asking questions about Perfect Day Coco Cay, which wasn’t included on the itinerary!  LOL

I  keep getting Royal UP offers for my upcoming cruise.They want $200 or more to upgrade to a spacious ocean view balcony.  I can upgrade through my TA for $27 for the same balcony.

Sometimes people cancel at the last minute and RC is ready with their list of people wanting to pay for a upgraded cabin.

And even if no cancellations and ensuing upgrades happen they will have more data on how much people are willing to pay, just to tweak their bidding algorithm.
