Newest Wines by the Glass List

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have the newest wines by the glass list? I think there may have been some sneaky adjustments made to the Premium Plus offering and the option to order Veuve champagne by the glass removed. I’m hoping that someone has something on paper from the past month and not just hearsay.

Bird, it’s that last page I’m worried about. I don’t think they hand this out on board anymore, and nowhere in the NCL pdf library can I find it, so without it I can’t ask for ( demand while stamping foot , lol j/k) my glass of champagne at the bar. I’m wondering if this is still current or whether it has been replaced by this:

https://www.ncl.com/sites/default/files/premium-plus-beverage-package.pdf

And whether her those lovely wines by the glass are now history.

I followed your link, if you look t the fine print at the bottom, about the third line it states it includes all beverages by the glass, you should be good to go.

Wow really bad free(under 15.00)  wines by the glass... I am truly disappointed by these choices...I think I'll bring on a couple bottles and pay corkage...

That flyer was handed out on the Encore a few weeks ago.

If I had known about this before I paid for our "free" drink package, I might have selected a different perk.  It's another marketing trick from Norwegian.  I wonder if the marketing executives had a meeting and said:  We already have their money for the so called "free" drink package, so lets not offer any wines worth drinking in the free package and see if we can squeeze a few more dollars out of them before they get off the ship.   It's no accident that there are no wines available in the $11-15 range.  Seriously, what restaurant doesn't have "any" wines available in the $11-15 range?  Why say that you can have free drinks up to $15, if you don't offer anything (wine at least) over $10?

We know that Norwegian monitors these forums.  It's things like this that can spoil an otherwise great cruise experience.  Passengers are smarter than that, and this is something that is just too obvious and annoying to overlook.

For those not already aware, you may change your "free" (not) perk to a different choice, prior to the cruise.

It has to be done (I believe 2 days+ prior) before embarkation!

I thought with the regular drinks package you can have any wine by the glass and just pay the difference over $15.  So it it's $18 a glass, you get charged $3 on your account.

Correct -$3 difference plus 20%.  So, in your scenario it would be $3 + .60

That's exactly true, and that's the whole point of their marketing strategy.  If you don't like the limited, bottom shelf wines offerings in the $8-9 range, then you are forced to move up to the $16-18 range.  Extra expense for you, extra revenue for NCL.  It's just very annoying to do that after you already payed for the "free" up to $15 package.

And again, what restaurant does not offer any wines in the $11-15 range?!?  Not even one?!?

We had the drink package on Celebrity (truly free, no gratuities charge) which also included drinks up to $15.  Their wine list had selections in the $8-10 range, $11-15 range, and $16 and up.  Just like any normal wine menu.  They had several good wines in the $11-15 range, and that's what we usually chose.  And a few times we upgraded to $17 wines for a small fee (and half the time they waived that fee).  But at least they gave us a choice.

Bird, or anyone who knows...if you look at the bottom of the comprehensive wine list, the 'star' in the legend states 'Choice of bottle included in Premium Plus Beverage Package'.

I copied this from NCL, and it is located in the handout Bird got.

PLUS, A 40% DISCOUNT ON ALL WINE BOTTLES, WINE & SPIRIT EXPERIENCES, TASTINGS AND FLIGHTS PURCHASED ON BOARD.

My question, does that mean that the Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label is not included in that 40% off discount if purchased by the bottle.

Since there is no *, I read that as the menu saying that they will pour you a glass free of charge at any time, but they will not give you that particular bottle at dinner.  And you have the option to buy that bottle any time at a 40% discount.

If they would pour a glass for free at any time, I would rather do that than pay $60 for a discounted bottle, but that's just me.   And I would ask the sommelier to keep that bottle nearby, because he's going to need it😊

Wow. The ncl red blend was well under the $15 mark last February. I get that it's only $2 more per glass with the package, but to jump the total 5-6 for a glass...thanks Ncl, I'm sure it's for my convenience.

The markup on the champagne is crazy. I don’t have the premium package but plan to bring a couple of bottles of Veuve Cliquot  (or similar) on my next cruise because even with a corkage fee it will be less than half the price of buying a bottle onboard.

You took the wine...I mean the words...right out of my mouth. I was going to say the same thing but you beat me to it.

Great minds...

Very disappointed in this new wine list offerings for those of us with the Premium Bev package. Granted it is a free at sea promo where our fee was the gratuity only, however, really NCL. Kind of a cheap shot at your guests. I am quite sure NCL could afford to, at least, include the East West (former North south) Proprietary blends plus a few others within the $15 mark. I can buy a bottle of 19 Crimes Blends as well as the Chardonnay from my local grocery store for $10. Certainly do not expect NCL to sell these wines by the bottle for $10, but really if they offered them at $10/gls, people would be happy to do that. They are offering them at $33/bottle…… so do the math.... there is approx. 4 pours per bottle = $40. Nough said.

The Badger mountain cab, available for $16 a glass on NCL, is also available at total wine and more for $11.50 a bottle.

Is the corkage fee still $30? How does it work? They open the bottle for me at dinner but I can only drink two glasses, what happens to the remaining wine?

I’m on the Sun currently and these wines seem to only be available in the dining room. Those available at bars is MUCH more limited, making it difficult to get value from your PPBP. You have to linger at dinner and drink nice wine!!  Maybe just a Sun thing?  No wine bar, of course.

That is disappointing!  We were able to find acceptable wines with Premium Plus in the Sports Bar, Casino Bar, Windjammer, and Champagne bar.    They went and retrieved the Simi Cab for us when we ordered it in the Sports Bar.

Asked at Windjammer and was told highend whiskey only.  Asked at champagne bar and was given the standard bar menu to choose from. Wondering if it matters who is working?
