When does RC lower prices to fill ship?

Recommended Posts

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I remember reading a while back that Royal Caribbean was changing their strategy on pricing by not discounting close to sailing date in order to fill ships. I don't know if it was Royal or another line but it seems to hold true for RC.

Your memory is correct.

Heck, when I booked my summer 2019 cruise, in a 7 day span, the price was fluctuating by over $1,000. This was around 45 days out.

There really is no predictable pattern.

There were several caveats

One was not applicable to the short cruises, I seem to recall.  Another had something to do with what defines close to sailing. This allows them to discount after final, but before 30 day?? window.
