Items on the cruise that you could do without

Totally agree with doing away with the baked Alaska parade.  It’s time as come and gone and If you are trying to get to a show or casino, it just drags dinner out. ( and I hate that desert anyway).  My suggestion is do away with the  Cheap chocolates on the pillow. Not that I am a chocolate snob, but as a veteran of the never ending waistline battle, I try to save my calories for the good stuff.  Now if they

had Godivas...LOL

In 40 Princess cruises I have never seen a towel animal or dancing singing waiters (unless you count the baked Alaska parade on the last night).

I haven't either. 30ish years ago there was a crew talent show but I havent seen a singing waiter since.

I think cute towel animals are mostly a carnival line thing

also, how about getting rid of making the poor employees stand for hours by the elevators, stairwells, etc. trolling for "free" mini- massages, pictures, tests on how good your feet are, etc?  I feel bad for these people, but it also irks me that the up-sell is everywhere.

So if they got rid of them they might not have a job at all?

no, they would have a job at the fitness center/photography center/spa handling customers who actually came to them.  It's once out of a hundred times I actually see a person talking to them or taking advantage of what they are offering.

Street tacos at the Salty Dog. As a Californian I know what tacos should taste like. These were dry and no toppings such as salsa,  tomatoes, lettuce, etc were available.

Captain's Party. What is the purpose other than getting dressed up for a free drink? I remember in the old days on Sitmar you received a crystal glass and a photo with the captain free.

Cheap prizes at the cumulative trivia contest. You would think that after 9 days of contests the winning team should get a better prize than the daily trivias.

Worthless free artwork when leaving the art auctions.

As a fellow Californian, one does not put tomatoes or lettuce on a street taco. A regular taco yes but never on a street taco.

Other passengers!

I find there are far too many of these.

🙂

That reminds me of a saying we have where I work, it's a University: "The campus would be great if it weren't for the students."

Stupid Baked Alaska Parade with the napkin waving. Art auctions and the attendant paper advertisements. EFFY and their paper advertisements. "Shopping Hosts". Port photo ops with stupid costumes - also the same thing outside the dining rooms. Pushy photographers in the dining room. HEARING SWEET CAROLINE EVER AGAIN!!! (There is no part of the song that actually includes, "so good, so good, so good". GAH!!!)

Dear lord - Effy!!!  Ugghh Sweet Caroline pullezzz!

Could do without the elevator rusher's! Slamming doors (but that can happen), loud talkers in the hallway late night or early morning, hmm, sounds like pablo222 in post #15- LOL.

Go ahead Trak - click on the link, it's not what you think...

On my last cruise a man in a wheelchair and his wife were waiting for an elevator and TWO times a bunch of people got in front of him (they all arrived later) and jumped on.  I had more than a few cuss words for them but I kept them on the inside.

I know not exactly what we are talking about the "elevator rushers" made me think about it.  I guess I can do without rude selfish people who think a vacation is an excuse to stop being a human being.  Ok. Rant over!!  😀

Street tacos...yeah, not sure where they obtained the version they serve, but they are pretty terrible and they make them as though they wish we would complain so they could just eliminate them. Same with the avocado toast. It was that packaged avocado-like paste with a gigantic blob of super thick cheese with bacon or nuts or something. Whatever it was, it was not edible. It was embarrassing. I was so confused. Like, was someone filling in who had not been trained on this food offering and I should try again tomorrow? LOL

I don't want or need most items in the elite toiletry bag. I used to like the nail file (didn't get one last time) and the linen spray, but I bring Poo Pouri now, don't need linen spray anymore 😂

I do use the chapstick, and that's the only thing we took out of the bag this last cruise.

I hope they recycled the other items.

Oh well, it seems like I'm the only one that likes the baked Alaska parade. I find it a bit of fun, and I thought most people around me enjoyed it as well. I like the desert as well.

Chairs in the already crowded cabins.

Now you've started it!! Morphing to barrel chair thread

I'm taking 2 granddaughters on a March 22nd cruise and that means the room will be really REALLY crowded. Plenty of closet space / little floor space.  Little kids can eat on their bed

I really like Princess but there are a few pet peeves including all of the above plus:

- the push for up sales when receiving spa services

- all photographers

- overly loud sound systems in the theatre

- the unappealing chocolates on the pillow at night

- bad coffee made from that liquid coffee stuff

I also think it’s unfortunate that room stewards have to spend time on towel animals.

And, given the problems I am having trying to put our info into the medallion app, I don’t need that frustration!

You don't actually believe that, do you?

With all the cutbacks I've seen in the crew personal they have only the people who they need & if a job function isn't required they simply cut it.

I have not seen anything indicating there have been layoffs, especially considering they are building new ships non-stop. Of course I don't want to see anyone get laid off.

However, I would not have said what I said if I didn't believe it, but way to take  a fun thread and make it into something it didn't need to be.
