Lido Deck Cabin

Recommended Posts

Hi

We've just been 'upgraded' to a balcony cabin on the Lido deck of Star Princess (from a balcony on Caribe BC from BE). Could anyone with knowledge of these cabins let me know if there's likely to be any noise issues from MUTS or any other Lido deck activities.

On an unrelated issue, I've just bought the 'Best Value Package' ( PBP, gratuities & internet) for this cruise. Where on my Voyage Personaliser can I see that this package has been added to my account.

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

No noise from that.  Not sure about that ship, but if it's under the retreat/sanctuary area, you might get some noise early in the morning when the deck hands are setting up the chairs and such.

The Caribe deck beats the lido deck balconies every time in my opinion.  Couldn't tell from your comment what the actual upgrade was.  BE on the Caribe to a BC on the Lido??  Is that what you meant?

The BC's on the Lido are under a deck with services open to the public ... not sure how you feel about that.  At least these areas do close down at night so, unless you like your cabin to be quiet at all times of the day, you shouldn't be too bothered by that.

Some people love the location as it is very convenient to the spa, food, a bar, the pool, etc.  Personally, I would try to change back to the Caribe deck for a quieter cabin and a larger balcony ... but, that's just me.

Did Lido once. Never a noise problem. More than once we needed to go down one deck to go to the buffet. Weather conditions.

We were given a handicap interior on lido once only......enjoyed the location being so close to pool, bar, food never had noise problems and the extra space the handicap room provided was nice.  Never did we request a mobility challenged room and we don't require one.

Isn't the balcony on Caribe on Star Princess half covered/half open and twice as large as balcony on Lido?

Yes, this is a Grand Class ship and all ships in this class have very large balconies on the Caribe.  And, as you say, half covered, half open.  These balconies will seat six (if you can get six chairs.

Lido deck balconies are great, close to the pool/pizza/burgers.

The only drawback I would note is would not book one aft of the forward stairs.

Can be a lot of foot traffic from the elevator heading aft to go outside.

We like Lido deck balconies and have never had a problem with them but... There is no way I'd want to trade my Caribe balcony for a Lido balcony. We love those extra large Caribe balconies that are half-covered. NOT an upgrade in my opinion.

Thanks for your helpful replies and for easing my concerns about this location. It looks as if our cabin will be under the men's sauna - so shouldn't be too much noise from above - hopefully!
