Portugal is HOT!

Recommended Posts

Does it seem to you that everyone has either just gone to Portugal or is going soon??

Portugal, and especially Lisbon, is a hot destination!

Today we published a timely blog Five Things to Do in Lisbon.

Not to worry, we have twenty-six (26!) voyages to Lisbon on our 2020-2021 schedule.

Take a look: https://www.azamara.com/int/find-a-journey#port=LIS

We had a great time in a Lisbon before our transatlantic to a Rio on Pursuit in November We managed to do some of the things in the blog, but not all. We went on the 28 tram through the Alfama district, we went to Belem and loved the Monument to the Discoveries, we strolled along the riverfront and spent time in Praca de Commercio, but we didn’t get to Sintra or go on the funicular! A beautiful city.

It is super hot, especially Oporto. I was so disappointed that May 26th 2021 journey. sailing goes right by it and hits Vigo and La Coruna instead. Such a missed opportunity. I get La Coruna, but you should drop Vigo for Oporto. Your stops in Oporto in 2021 are 50% of 2020

We spent 6 glorious weeks in Lisbon 2 years ago and will return for just 2 weeks this coming spring.  It's a very cool city full of young people from all over the world.  Terrific food, cuisine of the world, good coffee and a lot of special cultural institutions.  Go to the Fado Museum and the museum devoted to Portuguese tile work.  And we had some great side trips, including beautiful Oporto.

We sail from Lisbon in September. Spending 3 nights pre cruise. Hope it's not too "hot" in September. Ha

We ended a cruise with Azamara and stayed on for a few days. It is well worth taking the ferries across the river to some of the smaller places which don't have lots of tourists but fantastic local restaurants and fabulous views of the city as you take the ferry back. Also taking the local train to Cascais and Monte Gordo for a visit to a superb beach.  We will be there again in 2021 following our trip from Cape Town.
