Yacht Club and Guest

Hello!

I am debating joining my family on the MSC Meraviglia on a Caribbean Cruise out of Miami next year. I'd be traveling solo so paying for Double Occupancy (which is fine) because frankly I need my own space. My Cruise Agent has suggested the Yacht Club and the more I've researched it the more I think its where I would prefer to be. I'm not a fan of mega ships in general. Its quite a bit more expensive than a standard balcony ( Over 3 times more) but I think I'd be quite comfortable there. The problem is obviously that my family would not be in this part of the ship for meals and such. That actually doesn't bother me too much because I can join them sometimes and we are such a big and varied group I imagine we will be all over the place  doing our own things at different times. My question is that since I have paid for double occupancy, will I be allowed to have a guest join me by the YC pool or bar or such if I am escorting them? I imagine the answer is no, but I was curious if anyone had any experience with this?

Kind regards,

CC

Since you have to pay for it anyway, why don’t you show two people in the Yacht Club and one in the lower class room. Overall, it would be a lot cheaper.

My thought exactly, and the 2nd person sleeps in the non YC room but is good for the YC benefits when they decide to join you. Unfortunately that 2nd person cannot be flexed, so you cannot bring along different members on different days/occasions etc. 😑

OP isn't paying for a second person but paying a supplement for having only one person in the cabin, and that supplement isn't always full fare.  In OP's own words s/he is paying for the benefit of having his/her own space.

The person registered for YC would have a seapass for the room and be on that account.. not in another room elsewhere. Not keyed to another room nor another account.

The supplement is less than the cost of the second pax in YC

and the OP wants privacy ...

re "guests" the answer is No--and you open a can of worms with your big group

Maybe just do a balcony room outside YC so you can dine together (and spend the days apart?)

Cruising is a great way to get space  yet join for meals as you choose

The answer is no.  And for good cause.  Those of us who pay for the Yacht Club (often 3 times the cost of those outside the YC) would not be happy to know that folks could have access to the YC facilities without paying the price.  And the crew in the YC are of the same mind and we have watched them eject "interlopers" who somehow got into the YC.

I do understand that you would like to join your family.  And that is fine,,you can simply leave the YC and join them.

Perhaps you missed the OP’s original statement.  He states he is paying for 2 people.  His question is valid.  We know the answer will be no...but he does have the right to ask the Concierge.
