I just read in another posting that Princess no longer gives out straws. Is this true?

Had no problems getting straws on the Sky last month.

Nope, I’ll be on the Royal in August though. 
 

I figure Princess will be selling plastic straws with little tiny ships on them. And, they will cost their weight in gold!

I had problems getting straws a few months ago on the Royal.  Ask me in a few weeks and I will let you know.

Hard to "suck" a frozen drink through a straw.

No problem for me with a real straw.  With a paper straw it would suck since it collapses.

I bought a handful on our last trip & used them only for the frozen drinks. Most times the paper straws will work....for a while. 

I brought most of the plastic ones home for our next cruise.

They have paper straws you can ask for.  Or you can bring your own.

Starbucks sells hard reusable plastic straws that are easy to clean. And Amazon metal ones c AZ n be cleaned too. I just prefer the ones from Starbucks

Plastic straws limited on all Princess ships. It is part of Princess' program to meet the court ordered enviro. goals. You will notice other things also for example soft ice cream now in reusable small cups.

Wife had same problem on NCL a year ago; especially with frozen drinks.  So we found straws made from corn.  Biodegradable but unlike those paper straws they actually work.  Did not collapse.  First saw them at a fast food place in an airport.   I cant believe they have not caught on yet.  Were even thinking of taking a bunch to "Meet & Greets' to pass out.

They have paper straws available, but you often have to ask for them now. They are not always provided without asking.

On the Crown Dec27 the paper straws were shorter than the tall glasses that the fancy  frozen drinks came in ( plastic glasses and glass ones).  It made using them for frozen drinks a bit of a challenge once you had only the bottom third left and the straw didn't make it down that far.

I noticed they didn't have them on 11/25/2018 so it's been phased out over a long period.  Not new at all.  I bring my own.  The paper straws are hideous.

At our McDonald's in Florida they are still available but you have to ask for one.  No longer out by the drink machines.  Told by manager that they will be switching to paper straws by the end of the year.

I was told no straw for regular drinks on open deck cause they blow into the ocean they only give you a straw for frozen drinks

Just bringing our own and no, we don't toss used plastic ones in the ship's trash, since disposal of these things shipboard is part of the problem.
