According to the deck plans, the mini-suite is 283 sq. ft....and the balcony cabin is 203 sq. ft.....NOT including balcony space.   So yes...a mini is larger than a standard balcony.  Some "mid-ship" balconies have 20 additional sq. ft of cabin space.

Does anybody know if on the Norwegian Star the difference in room size between the balcony ROOM and the mini suite ROOM? I know the mini suite bathroom and balcony are larger but I would like to know if the actual room space is any larger.

CruiseDeckPlans gives Cabin: 229 sqft (22 m2), Balcony: 54 sqft (5 m2) for the MiniSuite, and Cabin: 166 sqft (16 m2), Balcony: 37 sqft (3 m2) for Balcony Cabin. I think the cabin size includes the bathroom though.

We were in a balcony cabin on the star for Panama Canal and Mexican Riviera; it was not too small!
