Aww, that's so sad. The umbrella's were so pretty and a big draw to that area from everyone wanting to see them. I'm glad we were able to see them and get pictures.

 

On another note, that huge PR flag would be pretty amazing to see as well!

It's true that it is now a giant flag, which was pretty cool, except when we were there last week the entire street was closed with barricades and armed guards, maybe related to the recent protests? All was quiet though. Incidentally, Puerto Plata (among other cities around the world) has an umbrella street as well, if your cruise stops there (Amber Cove for Carnival Corp brands).
