travel insurance for Hawaii cruise

My husband and I are going on a Carnival Hawaii cruise next year. It does make a stop in Ensenada, but we will probably stay onboard the ship for that port. I know that we need travel insurance, but, since we are going to be in the U.S., what should I look for in a policy?

What do you want to insure against? What are you afraid of losing? Where do you live? When it comes to medical, what kind of medical do you currently have? If you were doing a land vacation in Hawaii, would you need a special medical type coverage?

 

If it were me? I wouldn't get anything special. Any cancellation coverage and comprehensive coverage is covered with my credit card. My work medical insurance works just as good on the mainland as it would in Hawaii

If you are going to be at sea for several days, you will not be in the USA.  Check your coverage if you need to be airlifted in case of an emergency.

Any evacuation from the ship between the mainland and Hawaii is going to be done by the US Coast Guard or US Navy at no cost to the evacuee. There are no private (for profit) companies certified to evacuate people off of a cruise ship. (That I'm aware of. The cost and the continued training required would be prohibitive for a private enterprise)
