Key West

Yes, you can walk to the Southernmost Point from the cruise port.  It's about a 30 minute walk.

There's lots to do in Key West -- it just depends on your interests.  You can do HO/HO bus rides, self-guided walking tours, visits to the Truman Little White House and to the Hemmingway House, shopping, eating key lime pie, etc.

If your time permits, Danger Charters has a half day trip which includes a snorkel stop and a guided kayak tour around a mangrove island and they provide shortie wetsuits. They go out of slips # 7, 8 and 9 which are all very close to the cruise ship docks. Otherwise, Sebago rents wetsuits for their trips. It used to be $10.00.

The water is definitely not too chilly!!  Book a snorkel trip through Fury Watersports,  walk from the ship to the end of Greene Street where you'll meet the dive boat.   Do a snorkel trip, grab a slice of key lime pie across the street, then hang out in the Key West Seaport area... great shops, dining, entertainment, all without the chaos of Duval St.

Just so you're aware, the Southernmost Point was kind of a disappointment.  In pics it looks like it really is on a far out point of Key West.  In reality, the monument is on the side of the road, next to a building.  There is a small slice of ocean behind it that you can get in your pictures if you're standing at the correct angle.  There's also typically a long line of people waiting on the side of the street to take the iconic picture.  Go see it if it's on your bucket list, but after seeing it, I wouldn't walk 30 minutes for it (we had a golf cart).

My brother is currently bumming it down there, after retiring from being a truck driver, so he's actually camping in a tent on the military campground there. Anyway, he just wanted to chill down there for a month or two, so he has been. And he's been snorkeling probably 4-5 times in the past month there. So definitely not too chilly in the water!
