Cafedumonde Posted January 30, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2020 ... the amount from Princess was good, but then the TA doubled it. The cruise also comes with the free grats. I have read how people play a bit at the casino and then cash it out. How does that work?
riffatsea Posted January 31, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2020 (edited) There's no such thing as "too much" OBC! LOL Buy some excursions with it. Go to the spa. Get a specialty dinner. Play in the casino .Then cash out your winnings. BTW some OBC must be spent on board. I don't know what kind you have? Kenswing Posted January 31, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 31, 2020 Whatever your TA gave you is refundable. If you don't use it, Princess will send you a check in a couple of weeks after your cruise.

denmarks Posted January 31, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 31, 2020 OBC that you get as part of the cruise is not refundable but is used first. Stockholders credit is not refundable. Military and any gifts from your travel agent are refundable. It takes about 3 weeks to receive the refund.

Rare gotta cruise again Posted January 31, 2020 #7 Share Posted January 31, 2020 Use it for the Ultimate Ship Tour at $150 per person. Or maybe Chefs Table at $95+ per person, depending on the ship (less is you don’t want wine).
Steelers36 Posted January 31, 2020 #8 Share Posted January 31, 2020 Won't help you this time I realize, but a tip for future is to find a TA that will give you a cash discount off the cruise fare instead of giving back money as OBC. Less to try and spend, or if refundable, you don't have to wait to get it back from Princess.

RMMariner Posted January 31, 2020 #10 Share Posted January 31, 2020 Never been really interested in anything at the shops until I found these fashion setting hats. Best money I ever spent in those shops. It was all non-refundable anyways. So why not? 5
kywildcatfanone Posted January 31, 2020 #11 Share Posted January 31, 2020 Plenty of ways to spend OBC, or what is refundable can be cashed out and sent back to you.
MissP22 Posted January 31, 2020 #12 Share Posted January 31, 2020 You could always spend it on the overpriced junk in Effie's. 😂

fluffybunny22 Posted January 31, 2020 #16 Share Posted January 31, 2020 I've got $300 nonrefundable and $595 refundable. There's no way we can spend all of that. I'm expecting to get most of the refundable back.

Please bear in mind that Princess does read these boards ... and the more often the issue is rehashed here, the more likely Princess will fix their system to prevent what you're asking about. Lots of ways to spend your OBC, by the way. I hope it doesn't change from too much discussion about it. I got a big surprise on the Q2 last fall. I had lots of OBC, and I played $200 in the casino to help pay it down. When I went to cash it in they added it to my OBC and the $200 went on my bill as per their policy which only increased my OBC. On the last day of the cruise I ended up buying myself another Citizen watch to use up my OBC.

Book a few excursions and a day or two at the sanctuary and poof, it’s gone.
joepeka Posted January 31, 2020 #21 Share Posted January 31, 2020 I'm sure it's true that Princess staff read this board and have been for years, therefore they've known about the casino trick passengers have been using for years to cash out unused OBC.... and apparently have done nothing to close the loophole. So what secret are we trying to protect by not just answering the OP's question? I know, uncle Google is your friend, use it. 🤨

Croptop Posted January 31, 2020 #23 Share Posted January 31, 2020 Depending on where your cruise is going, there's also the Sanctuary. Purchase a couple of chairs in there for the duration of your cruise (at $30/day per chair) and you can quickly consume a bunch of that credit. But you'll have your own guaranteed spot every day along with attendants who will take very good care of you.

argenta01 Posted January 31, 2020 #25 Share Posted January 31, 2020 How do you manage to get $595 of refundable credit? On my last cruise Princess even made the loyalty credit non-refundable! 🤔
