I'm enjoying this discussion.

 

We are sailing this June on the Apex, and I'm wondering if the location (Mediterranean) will make a difference on the wines available?  Or if it's consistent across all Celebrity ships.

I would assume it's pretty consistent across all the ships.  I'm also doing the Mediterranean in May and will just purchase wine from a couple of ports.

Having said that you never know with the Apex being new they could have some different wines.

I've not done a European cruise on Celebrity, but I don't recall much change on Royal Caribbean. We sailed twice out of the UK, and I recall they had a really cool looking, almost pub style bar, with maybe one (not great) English beer...

 

I wouldn't expect a nice Italian Valpolicella or Spanish Tempranillo to suddenly sneak into the wine list!

I do not recall any special wines being on the list for our September Mediterranean Cruise with Royal Caribbean. Did not really look at the wine list in the MDR as I found what I normally drink on the first night and ordered that by the bottle. 

 

Celebrity does tend to have somewhat of a more upscale list of wines than RC but usually those are found by the bottle and not the glass.

I prefer rccl wine list over celebrity, our rccl Europe cruise had there normal wine list

Boo! ..We'll have to enjoy these wines on our port adventures instead.

This is a good idea. 

I'm looking forward to sailing on a brand new ship (and reading the reviews from the April and May cruisers!)

I know they were the same glasses that were originally in my cabin and I noticed they were not properly cleaned so he took and rinsed out and returned to me. I could have done that myself. If you can get your hands on a Reidel like I did hang on for the remainder of the cruise. I kept mine behind my toiletries for my pre dinner drink in the cabin. 🍷

You can't. I was on my way back to my cabin and stopped off at the casino bar to pick up a wine glass and just so happened it was a Reidel. Must have gotten there accidentally. I used it for the rest of the cruise.

Caymus was $25 per glass in Luminae on Equinox this past November.

 

If you get a good sommelier they will back out a 4 glass premium package credit ($60 total I believe) on any bottle purchase.

 

re: Caymus for $75 per bottle in VA...can you please let me know where this is I would like to order some.  I haven’t seen it that low in a few years.

I live in Canada and just went on Total Wine website. Caymus cab 2018 sells for $74.97. Five bucks more in Florida where I shop when in Fort Lauderdale.

On HAL, twice the sommeliers didn't charge corkage for the French wine bottles we brought for them to serve and store. We are strictly sippers with food. Are diners ever given a pass on corkage on CC?

Its not the norm but can happen. You were just lucky on HAL.
