Brewer's Bay - Newbie Questions

Thank you for your time - I have a few (newbie) questions regarding Brewer's Bay

  • Is it open to the public?
  • Is there a beach fee?
  • Is it okay to snorkel here?
  • What are your snorkel experiences (if you have any)?
  • For those who don't want to snorkel, are you able to visibly see sea turtles or other sea life from the beach (if you're lucky)?

Thank you again for your time. Have a good day! 🙂

PLEASE NOTE:  Brewer's is in Tortola

Brewer's Bay Beach is open to the public at no cost ... chairs can be rented.

Great place to snorkel or to just enjoy the beach and calm water.

We LOVE going there!

Hi LuLu! Hope you are well! Just a note that there is a Brewer's Bay on STT very close to the airport...nothing like our Brewers Bay on Tortola though! The only STT beach that comes close is Lindqvist...

Rain, Brewer's is free and there was a food truck last I knew, have not snorkeled so cannot comment...Others can give you more details though...

John Brewer's Beach (St. Thomas) is actually on the University of the Virgin Islands campus. The marine biology program has a dock for their research/teaching vessels. Lots of research is done in the bay. Snorkeling is over to the right side of the bay as you look at the water. No chairs, but there are picnic tables in the shade. Bathrooms/showers are available as are some food trucks with drinks.

Yes Brewers Bay is a great alternative to the other more STT popular beaches...nice restrooms and great food...

OOPS - Someone incorrectly moved this thread to the Tortola forum, sure to confuse folks looking for info on Brewers Bay, Tortola! 😂
