Diamond Princess passenger "tested positive for Wuhan coronavirus"

The last 2 individuals (including Carl I am assuming) have moved from the Biocontainment Unit to the National Quarantine Unit at Nebraska Medicine. One of them did receive the "drug trial anti viral medicine that is on fast track". They had to have had pneumonia like symptoms to receive.

UNMC/Nebraska Medicine is now monitoring 15 Americans for the coronavirus who were passengers on the Diamond Princess cruise ship. Thirteen of these people are positive for the coronavirus while two are negative. Two of the individuals who had been receiving care in the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit have now been transferred to the National Quarantine Unit because of their improving condition. Everyone we’re monitoring is now in the 20-bed National Quarantine Unit and the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit is now unoccupied.

Carl's blog is worth reading:

https://www.hometownstation.com/santa-clarita-news/editorials/third-member-of-the-four-amigos-tests-positive-for-coronavirus-part-14-314649

It appears he is taking part in a different clinical drug trial. I think he must have written this last night or this morning as Nebraska Medicine said this afternoon that all 2 patients were moved from Biocontainment Unit and this blog doesn't mention that.

Would 100% agree that this board needs a Cruising and Health .....was reading that Princess is now sending out a note to passengers to bring enough meds for 2 weeks!!  I do think there will still be some follow up relevant to DP only and this seems to be the correct thread for that.

We just received that notice, as well as the suggestion to get an international mobile phone plan. They also instructed to bring an additional 2 weeks of meds beyond the length of the cruise.

In his latest video David Able said that they are reasonably ok but no new info, waiting for further results. Sally said at this point it is not the virus that will kill them, it is boredom. Sad.

Unfortunately they were only allowed to take two small suitcases and the rest of their luggage (likely including his photo equipment) is still on the ship. Bummer.

what really might impact their health is that food...he showed the lunch and frankly nothing there and I bet they are not eating much of it...DAvid is making light of it but honestly I would have a major problem with that.

Guest Disembarkation Complete + Team Member Quarantine

Princess Cruises can confirm that disembarkation of all guests aboard Diamond Princess is complete. Specialists from the Princess Care Team and Family Assistance programs remain available to both guests and team members.

Currently, there are fewer than 500 team members on board, with some awaiting government charter flights. For those team members who will not depart by government charter flights, we have finalized plans with the Japan Ministry of Health for a quarantine shoreside facility in Japan.

Princess Cruises has hired Aspen Medical, an award-winning and WHO-certified company with extensive global experience in delivering public health services, to provide team members with health and wellbeing care during a quarantine at a land-based center in Japan. The Australia-based company will deploy as many as 60 professionals including clinically certified doctors, nurses and environmental health officers along with operations personnel. Aspen Medical will provide services at the facility including daily health checks, laundry services, meal service, housekeeping service and assist with recreational activities.

This secondary quarantine is required by the Japan Ministry of Health, out of an abundance of caution, to ensure the health and well-being of each team member. Aspen Medical will be operating under the direction of the Japan Ministry of Health, which is ultimately responsible for the quarantine.

So the Corona Princess is now almost devoid of crew and passengers. Kudos to Princess- they seem to go beyond and above to help their team- crew! Passengers as well- as David Abel never get´s tired to praise them.

What a great personality he has- no complaining about minor things - only postiv and always a  look at the bright sight of things!

How Princess handled that fiasco is a picture book for the other cruise lines- should they ever get cought in a similar situation! I will definatley look for a Princess Cruise next year. This year is already set with Cunard and Celebrity!

I have no doubt that all luggage left behind on the ship will be mailed back to the passengers by Princess. It's not like they're going to just keep it or throw it overboard.

I suppose some passenger would be not to angry if the would throw it overboard.

I just met up with a friend yesterday who was on the Diamond sailing before this quarantined cruise (I didn’t stand too close to him haha).

He told me that hygiene standards were the lowest he had seen on any cruise he had been on. Lack of hand sanitizers all over the ship, in particular he cited the entrance to the buffet and especially getting back onto the ship at ports.

We were comparing to other lines (I have never sailed Princess) where it is noticeable on ncl (“washy washy”) and Celebrity how sanitizers are thrusted on you as you re-enter the ship.

I just know the standards of Celebrity and Cunard- and they are always enforced. I like the washy washy of NCL- never sailed with them- but it sounds fun. LOL!

Cunard Line is catering to an older bunch of passengers or ship buff´s ( like me) of the younger generation or the generation slightly above middle age ( like me) !

One fellow passenger in my own age group once stated a bit ironic- I know we are sailing in gods anteroom- but i love it anyway- well so do I! LOL!

Has anyone heard any further information re the Japanese passengers who had been released but had started to show symptoms of illness and were to be re-tested.  I would have thought Japan would have made it front line news if they had comeback as negative.

Well today after  Sally being positive and David negative...now both are positive again. What a roller coaster for them.

Yeah but it is not David who died according to the reports. Absolute shambles the way Japan has handled this. The family of the dead man should sue.
